Question about Sony Video Hi8 Ev-c100 Ntsc Video Cassette Recorder Magnetoscope
I haven't used this deck in over a year and it has very low hours on it to begin with (>40 for sure) and went to use it the other day, when I put in a tape, it seemed to be jammed so I ejected the cassette. The cassette came out but the tape was unraveled back into the machine. I tried another tape with the same result. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
L would sacrifice a old or bad tape here, remove all the tape inside a cassette and tape off the small sensor holes on each side.
That way no tape to damage and you can insert it to see what is happening.
What likely is the issue is when stop it, it or if the tape does not fully load against the drum with heads, when the arms retract that pull the tape out of the cassette the mechanism is not switching to rewind it back into the cassette.
Usually this means a belt is slipping or the idler unit is not working---belts can break or stretch or even come off---belts will get slopply or bad from NO use and it is common.

SOURCE: vcr jams on eject
What do you mean 'Tape crunches" Do you mean that there is tape slack, which then crunches when Tape is lifted during Eject? If that is the case, then the Supply Reel Roller Brake is bad. it is a Felt Pad, which needs replacing. If the entire eject operation is wonky, or if it's timing is bad, then I suspect that One of the eject Gears (On either side of the Mechanism) is damaged and needs to be replaced. One question, i assume that you are able to eject the Tape eventually, and so - Does the Tape Load into the VCR properly, when you insert it into the machine? This will help me in giving you a better diagnosis.

SOURCE: Tape stuck inside
there is screws on the unit when the unit goes into rewind mode disconnect from mains and unscrew unit first check to see if the screws are scurity type haveng a hex or star shape on them if either then take to video and tv repair shop and explain that you need to remove a tape from unit you may have to pay for a small fee for it to be removed this part is all i can give but if you can remove screws yourself then locate the motor for tape ejet and load and manualy wind till tape is removed good luck

SOURCE: Tape keeps ejecting
You can check tape player for any type of object lodged in it. Maybe unplug and turn upside down to here anything inside. Or even any broken tape that come off inside. The only other thing is that the belts inside are worn and will not put device back in play mode.

The generic error codes C32:xx indicate that a motor is not functioning. If you have not worked on these machines before, extreme caution is advised. These have extremely sensitive alignments that can easily be disturbed.
Please update this with your familiarity with these machines and I'll try to provide additional directions.
