If this is a side by side door refrigerator you can not move the doors or the handles.

Remove bolts that hold both doors, make sure to remember order, bolts for doors should be universal, but hinges need to go in same place just turned around. On the other side of fridge you need to remove plugs where bolts from otherside go. Install as reverse of removal, leave bolts loose to leave for adjustment. Install refrigerator door before freezer. Then move handles, small covers hide the screws on face of doors others should be exposed.

Mod# RFG297AA:Need to remove the freezer section or handle/latch

there are two screws on each side of the bottom freezer unit you need to remove. they can be removed after de-installing the front bin with the two plastic sleeves on the right and left. Then you can remove the bottom drawer door and the bins inside. next, open both top doors and angle the fridge with one door inside the door frame, then "walk" the fridge over the doorstoop, turning towards the inside door as you push. Follow thru with the rest of the unit, then re-attach the bottom drawer.

In some cases they are designed in such a way where all you have to do is to remove the door and re-install it upside down to locate handle to the other side. Check to see if that's the case with yours!

Want to move whirlpool american side by side fridge freezer but need to remove doors how is this done

1. If you just need to gain a little space you can simply remove the door handles. They should just lift (or slide) up with moderate force and can be removed.

2. If you only need to move through one door in a building you might be able to open the doors enough to make the unit clear the door you are trying to move the unit through. This would take care.

3. If you really do need to remove the doors, be sure to disconnect the water line at the rear. Then gently snap off the hinge assembly covers at the top of the unit and disassemble the hinge. Be aware of water lines when you are ready to remove the doors.

To change the door opening side, you will have to do the following.
Move the hinges to opposite side. There should be a plugs in the holes for the new locations. Carefully remove them without damaging them. They will be re-used in the opposite side.
Remove the door and hinges. Install the hinges and door on the opposide. Insert the plugs in the
holes left from removing the hinges.

Carefully remove the plugs for the new location for the door handle.(You will reuse them)
Carefully remove the trim at the top and bottom of the handle. Now remove the screws and move the handle to the opposite side and install. Install trim top and bottom. Put the handle plugs in the holes left from the handle removal.

Handle removal

You would be better served to remove the doors, ready fridge to move,( empty, un-plug ) . Remove front grille, un-plug wiring to door dispenser, follow water line and un-couple at water valve, then two people remove phillips screws from top of unit have second open door and lift off bottom hinge. you can then remove lower hinge if necessary for clearance. It took me longer to type than this process takes. And to remove handles involves removing door liners, don't go there.
