Question about HTC Vivid
Can not send text messages, but recieve them ok
This sounds like you're out of credit on your phone. When I send texts, I'm charged a fee. But it's free to receive them. Maybe this is why?
To avoid this problem, you can send and receive texts through your email account. That way you always get your texts, whether or not you're out of credit on your phone. Try Bulletin Messenger: https://www.bulletin.net/product-messenger.html

SOURCE: able to recieve text messages
To do a test on your text messaging capabilities, you can send yourself a text message by entering your mobile number in the to/receipent field. In doing this you are testing your in/out messaging. If you are not able to receive text, then you will need to call your wireless provider to have the issue corrected. The outgoing and incoming messaging features are separate in the cellular switch, which means that one would work and the other not.

SOURCE: I have an HTC touch2.
The problem is from the message center number, you will need to check it for right message center number. From the menu on your phone, go to message, from message go to setting, next to message center to check if the message center number is correct. the way you can no if the message center is correct is to compare it with a friend phone that uses the same network as yours using the same network as yours.
If after making comparison with your friends number, set it to the real message center number, your text messages will start sending. You can also call you network service provider to get the message center number.

SOURCE: I have an htc hero.
its probably a network issue if its limited to only one of your contacts... what I would do is first hard reset the phone if that does not work then call your network provider and ask for tech support and they should be able to open a trouble ticket to resolve the issue, I have heard of this issue before with Sprint

Turn off the delivery report and read report.Open your message app ;Tap the "menu" button
select "Settings" ,scroll down to the MMS section
De-select the "Delivery reports" and "Read reports" options .
If you've not fixed this try turning off your Wifi .
