Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Windows starts, apears the logo windows xp,then the screen turns black and stays like that, nothings happen

You can try changing your bios setting with the help of a professional.

The other option is to reinstall windows XP.

If this dosent work then you can post again with the updates and we can suggest other solutions.

I want to restore my windows 98

Under normal circumstances, Windows is capable of detecting and recovering from registry errors automatically. If Windows is incapable of this, a previous copy of the registry can be restored manually. Windows makes and stores a backup of the registry when you start your computer successfully each day. By default, five previous copies or the registry are stored. To restore one of these previous copies:
  1. Start your computer, press and hold CTRL, and then choose Safe Mode Command Prompt Only from the Windows 98 Startup menu. If you are running Windows Me, start your computer with the startup disk.
  2. At the MS-DOS prompt, type cd\windows\command, and then press ENTER. Where windows is the name of the folder in which Windows is installed.

  3. At the C: prompt, type scanreg /restore, and then press ENTER.
  4. Select the previous registry you want to restore, and then press ENTER.NOTE: A properly working registry has the word "Started" next to the date.

  5. When you receive notification that you restored a properly working registry, press ENTER to restart your computer

My vista home basic get stuck when it open the user account,i cant open anything and also display a message that "activate the product key, please insert the installation software cd"

you should be able to run a repair if you have the disk. Or when you first turn on the computer, keep pressing the f8 key until the service menu appears and then click repair windows.

Hope this helps.

Greetings,

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer using the Windows 98 or Windows Me Startup disk.
  2. On the Startup menu, choose the correct CD-ROM support for your computer.
  3. Type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command:

    c:
    cd <windows>\system
    ren user32.dll user32.dlx
    ren gdi32.dll gdi32.dlx
    ren winmm.dll winmm.dlx

where <windows> is the name of your Windows folder and <ramdrive> is the virtual drive created by the boot disk (probably e:\ or f:\).
  4. Type the following line, and then press ENTER: For Windows 98:
    <CD-ROM drive>:\win98

    For Windows Me:

  5. Type the following line, and then press ENTER:

    user32.dll gdi32.dll winmm.dll
  6. Type the following line, and then press ENTER:

    ren Cmapieng.vxd Cmapieng.vxx
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. Once Windows has restarted, run the Defragmentation application.
When Ext.exe has finished extracting the files, follow these steps:
  1. Remove the Windows 98/Me Startup disk, and then restart your computer.
  2. Press and hold down the CTRL key as your computer restarts. On the Windows 98 Startup menu, select Safe Mode.
  3. After Windows starts, on the toolbar click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click any utility that you have installed, and then click Add/Remove to remove the utility. Repeat this step to remove any utilities you have installed.
  5. On the toolbar click Start, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar And Start menu.
  6. Click the Start Menu Programs tab, and then click Remove.
  7. Double-click Startup, click the appropriate entry, and then click Remove.
  8. Click Close, click OK, and then restart your computer.
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. In Microsoft System Information, on the Tools menu, click System File.
  11. Click Settings, on the Advanced tab, click Restore Defaults, and then click OK.
  12. Restart your computer.

Windows 98- always starting in safe mode

Hi.
The reason of of start in safe mode is to give you the opportunity to fix something wrong in your system.
Posible causes :
- You are not shuting the system down Properly.

If you have a power supply that needs to be turned off manually make sure you turn it off only when the system tells you it is save to do it.( after clicking in shutdown in start menu).

- There are incompatibilities in your system.
Make sure all the devices are properly installed ( hardware and software) and and there is no conflict between them.( you can read about this in windows help( look in start menu or in the toolbar of any window for the button HELP).

Some times it is a simple driver you need to install or reinstall.

- A system file is corrupted ( most the time you will have to reinstall Windows) if that is the case, there are other ways to fix it but are a little more complex.

- Problems in the Registry( only people familliar with that can fix it) or can be solved by reinstalling Windows.

-Make sure the CMOS is saving your Config in the setup.
may be the battery needs to be replaced( you will have to configure Setup again after replacing it.

In any case i advice you to get help from somebody familiar with PCs, before you try anything that can result in damage for your PC.
If you want to do it yourself, get some tutorials about PCs.

Hope this help.
Regards

Nothing is working! I need help

Hello,

You haven't received a response from Whisperwolf because our email notification system is down right now.

When you start your system and before your Dell screen shows, Press either the F2 or F10 screen. This should get you a System Bios setup screen. In this screen, see if there is an entry for your Hard drive and CDROM drive.

If you can get that far comment back and I'll check back here until our email system is working again. The fact that your computer is not responding to your CDROM is not a very good sign and your computer may have been starting to fail with the first of errors you received and is now at complete risk.

Regards,
Worldvet
