The system is not reading any games

Hello there,
The reason your system is not reading any game is because the lens is not working, to fix this, follow the steps below;
  1. Unplug the power cable, video cable and controllers and remove any discs from the disc drive
  2. Remove the rubber foot on the left side of the PS3, unscrew the security screw and slide off the top lid.
  3. Unscrew all nine screws under the lid and lift off this section to reveal the inside. Be sure to unplug the cable that connects to this lid before completely removing it.
  4. Remove the gray box. This is the Blu-ray drive. Disconnect the power supply and the cable connecting it to the motherboard
  5. Remove the five screws on the outside of the Blu-ray drive to remove the metal shell.
  6. Remove the next set of screws on the black plastic cover to gain access to the inside of the Blu-ray drive. Disconnect the red and black cable to pull the two plastic halves apart.
  7. Remove the cables and brackets and screws holding the laser in place and slide off the laser module. Be sure to check the model number on the laser to make sure you purchase the right replacement model.
  8. Replace with new laser module, reverse your steps and reassemble the PS3.

Take care

How to get a disc out that is stuck

Try this way of getting the disc out:

Turn off your PS3 from back (the main off button) Put your finger on the eject button and once you do, push the switch at the back to switch the PS3 on, and then push the eject button. Hold it like this for fifteen to thirty seconds, or until the drive is forced open. The disc should come out now.

If it doesn't then you'll need to open up your ps3, then open up the disc drive manually. To do it its located here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHS07EFGZ3g

the drive is on the left, it unplugs then you need a small phillips head screwer to take off the top of the drive and then you can remove the disc. Then put the screws back and then go ahead and plug the drive back in and the put the ps3 back together.

Got a game stuck in ps3 took it apart got game out put it together again, now when i turn it on it shows green then turns off

you might have damaged your disc drive. if there was a cord connecting the top of the ps3 and the disc drive and it got disconnected try reconnecting it by putting it on the top ps3 cover and back into the tray. takes alot of work if you don't want to send it back in.

    Ps3 dismantle instructions

    1. To remove drive you only need to remove small plastic door with fine flat screw driver under small **** towards the front of console then undo blue screw and slide drive towards front of console and pull straight out. Be careful not to press on any of the drive's surfaces especially where the label is as head or platter will be damaged!

    2. To dismantle the rest of the console, remove sticker on left side of console, remove rubber plug/ foot, undo tamper proof screw with correcy T15 star driver, and slide false plastic cover towards you. Then you have several philips head screws all marked with arrows to undo after which the top can be removed straight up. When removing or disturbing the optical drive be careful not to damage the heat transfer pad under the drive as the electronics of the drive will then overheat. The rest should be easy!
    Good luck!

System wont load or eject any discs...

Remove the disc drive from the console. Remove the cover very carefull. Take the top part off (remove the 5 screws) and open the disc drive like a book.
Carefull remove the guide mechanism (the front part -1 screw).
The clicking noise is caused by the fact that the left side mechanism that raises and loweres the deck when the disk is inserted or ejected is stuck. Carefull push back the piece of plastic with teeth located on the left side of the deck (as you are looking at the disk drive the oposite side with the lens driving motor) until it clears complete the plastic round gear that drives that part.
mount back the guide mechanism, and the top part.
Attached the ribbon cables to the unit , power the console and keep the eject button pushed for about 10-15 seconds.
That will reset all the gears and stuff.
Worked for me when I experienced that issue.
