How do I fix error 28 on Roku

How to Fix: Error Code 28 Vudu Roku PROBLEM: Error Code 28 Vudu Roku is usually caused by misconfigured system files that create registry errors within your operating system. Windows errors can cause program lock-ups, slow PC performance, system crashes, computer freezing and more. CAUSE: Registry errors generally occur when new programs are installed over old ones without the old programs being completely uninstalled. This can cause registry pile-ups and error messages. Another potential cause of these error messages can come from malicious software such as adware, spyware, and viruses.
SOLUTIONS: Scan and repair any missing or damaged Windows registry files using RegCure Pro. After the registry issues are resolved, it is recommended to optimize your PC by removing any spyware, adware and viruses with SpyHunter.

My computer says code 28 I do not have any driver installed for multimedia audio controller i have no sound and my cd rom does not get reconized

For Code errors refer to microsoft site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/125174

The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28).
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver

Procedure
Step 1
Click on "Start."

Step 2
On the "Start" menu, click on "Control Panel."

Step 3
In the "Control Panel" folder, click on "Performance and Maintenance."

Step 4
Click on the "System" folder in the "Performance and Maintenance" folder.

Step 5
Click on the tab titled "Hardware."

Step 6
Click on the box that says "Device Manager."

Step 7
Click on "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers."

Step 8
Right-click on the device that prompts Windows XP to display Code 28 (it should be Windows Sound System Compatible Driver, also called the WDM driver). A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 9
Click on "Update" and an Update Wizard will guide you through the installation of a new device driver, which should stop Code 28 from appearing on Windows XP.

Hope this help

Sounds like a bad file . I would consider reinstalling windows. When it starts up, for a new install, it will find your existing OS and ask it you want it repaired, say yes then it wil repair it and leave al you data as is.

Windows xp home edition reinstall

If you use his disk, that will be better, because if it is original HP disk, it should install all original drivers at all, however this may delete all files on the computer depending on the type of installation you do.

Installing an older version of XP home does not make a big difference , as windows will update the system using automatic updates. What must be done, is ensuring that all proper drivers are installed.

Check device manager, in control panel/system, and see if all devices are installed with proper drivers.

Reasons for this error include a driver that is not present; a binary file that is corrupted; a file I/O problem, or a driver that references an entry point in another binary file that could not be loaded.

Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.
