Probably not. If the computer was built for Vista, there is a good chance that there are no drivers for XP. I suggest you upgrade to Win 7. Very soon, XP will be an end-of-life product. OMHO, you are wasting your time going to XP.

If you have backup your files already, do the Recovery Option to do the automated factory settings by pressing on the Ctrl + F11 before turning on your computer. Before you do that you can find those drivers on your Drivers & Utilities discs that came with your computer. On the other hand, if you don't have the discs, you can also download it from Dell's web site. ( ). Make sure that you have your service tag ready (underneath your laptop), you will need it in order to get the correct software drivers needed. Getting a copy of the operating System cd for Dell Inspiron 6000

Dell not being provided with system operating disk aka Windows nor drivers disk needed for their systems. This always poses a problem when these people are advised to do a repair install or other system repair, only to discover that they have no disks. The normal solution recommended is to contact Dell support and ask for the disks. Dell has a support site where you can order disks for your system as well as other important links to updated drivers. On the site Dell states:
Dell Customers can now request a set of backup discs containing the factory-installed operating system as well as the device drivers and utilities specific to your system.
Requests are limited to one (1) set of backup discs per system purchased.
The backup discs requested must match the operating system that was factory installed on the original order.
Please note that Dell will provide you the most up to date Resource disc available, containing the latest drivers and diagnostic tools currently being shipped on new systems. Due to the frequent updates, this Resource disc may not have all the drivers needed for your specific system, especially if it is over one (1) year old.
Complete details here.

Good Luck / Please dont for get to Vote.Thank you.
