Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

Whirlpool Side by Side- semi-translucent tape likedebris in water

We own a whirlpool side by side, approximately 5 years old. I served a couple glasses of water and someone noticed that there was "worm" like clear debris floating in the water. This had previsouly happend once before, and I changed the filter and it was fine. But, now I've changed it twice (at $35 each!) and still have the same semi-translucent ribbon that floats in the water. Our tap water is fine. I disconnected the fridge and ran water into a pitcher without problems, but when it runs through the water dispenser, I have the ribbon in the water that comes out. I've ran at least 5 gallons of water through each of the two new filters in the last 5 days, and still have the problem.

Our problem is the water that comes from the water dispenser. When we melt the ice, it is fine.

Our problem is in the water that comes through the dispenser on the door. The ice is fine, at least when we melt it.

We are also experiencing this problem.

When pouring a glass of water, an organic-like translucent debris is present. This size of the debris is between a millimeter and a centimeter. If I run enough water through (like into a two liter bottle), the water is clear again for the next glass or two.

I suspect a build-up in the water line may be the cause.

Sounds like the plastic from the icemaker is chipping off the unit in the ice making process.

If your water is running clear except through the refrigerator that is my suggestions. Although normally the plastic color is blackish.

SOURCE: Water has debris floating in it

Sounds liek you have a hard water problem.  That debris is more than likey limescale and hard water build up.  A filter does not always remove it all.  You need to get a water softener.

Whirlpool ED22PW water not reaching ice maker or front dispenser

It doesn't matter if a whirlpool or any other brand is new or not, if you don't use an inlet water filter the water will taste like **** and sediment will deposit and cause catastrophic ice maker and water dispenser failure.

Water line to the water dispenser has rotted; best way to replace

take and get a coulpling at the hardware stoe that is real tight inside of the tubing and then you can either gently pull the new line into the door after removeing the inside of the refrigerator and getting to the access to the back side of the ice and water controls and replace the tunbing. have a quick connect for the coupling at the bottowm of the freever door so that all you have to do is uncoiuple it and remove the door. Be careful not to pinch the tubing when you remove the door ever. Good Luck and you can ask me more questipons here at FixYa. Please don't forget to rate this solution fo hte answer please. Does not cool

I had the same problem a year ago. My solution was replacing the capacitor on the compressor motor which I could have done myself for a few bucks. Ended up paying a repairman $100+. Try replacing the cap yourself for a few bucks. If it doesn't solve the problem, you are only out the cost of a capacitor. Don't substitute values. Get the correct one!
