On my mouse, GE HO 97769, I noticed that once in a while the infrared laser goes out, and what I do to revive it, without shutting the computer down, is just to push the sleep mode button on my key board to shut the monitor down for a few seconds, then after the monitor shuts down, push the button again to bring the monitor back up, and it works fine. By this method the computer is still performing its functions, without any interruptions. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem in Vista, I found a true and working solution apart of droping the mouse to the trash, ok, go to... go to the english version if you dont speak chinese, then find the driver for the mouse model ***-49Z, and there is the solution, GE isnt the builder of this mouse.

Take Care.

Greetings from Mexico.

By using this method, the computer is still performing its functions as the computer itself is not shut down. Hope this helps.

A lot of times you can just reset the reciever and mouse without restarting
there should be a reset button on the reciever itself and one on the bottom of the mouse

Never heard of that for a wired mouse

I would try and update the driver in my computer

    Is your keyboard also wired

I cannot get my new optical mouse to work. GE98548. I have the USB receiver plugged into the USB port, pressed the button and the red light came on. I pressed the Connect button on the mouse and nothing...

Basics first (some or all of which you may already have considered).

I assume you have batteries in the mouse.

Check the manual for the correct sequence and procedure for introducing the mouse to the transdponder for the first time. Sometimes the buttons on the wireless transponder and mouse need to be pressed and held for a certain amount of time.

Sometimes there needs to be clear line of sight between the mouse and the transponder, depending on if the signalling is Infra Red or RF. Consider a Male to Female USB extension cable that allows you to plug the male end of the extension cable into the PC's USB socket and the transponder into the female end of the extension cable, enabling you to place the transponder in clear line of sight of the mouse.

You will know when the mouse is properly connected to the transponder because when you press the Connect button the transponder should blink in response.

Leaving the transponder connected to the PC, try connecting a wired USB mouse to different USB port to see if you can get a moving cursor with it. If the Hardware Wizard appears, you may need use it to install USB drivers that are already in windows but not yet installed and active. After this, disconnect the wired mouse and test the wireless mouse again.

Also check in your BIOS (see which key to press - often DEL or F2 -during boot from the menu at the foot of the first boot screen to enter BIOS Setup and check if Legacy USB function is on or off. If off, use the + or - (or sometimes page Up or Page Down) keys to toggle it to on > F10 > Enter > boot into windows and test USB wireless mouse again.

If none of these ideas solve the problem, the device may be faulty and should be returned under warranty.

I hope this helps.

Mouse thinks its alive (GE wireless optical 97990 rev.4)

Could be signal interference or overloaded usb port. Move receiver around to get a more direct signal, and notice any other devices in use like phones. Use alone without other usb devices plugged in and/or buy usb hub with power adapter. DO NOT buy passive usb hub with no additional power.

Logitec V270 bluetooth mouse freezes

I found no solution but plenty of similar complaints on the V270 on other than just Vista machines. I will suggest finding another model mouse and check it for Vista compatibility before buying.
I am using a Logitech M-RBB_DEL4 mouse made for Dell, it's bluetooth and works flawlessly on my XP machine along with the keyboard it came with. I will try the one I just ordered on my Vista machine when the BT Keyboard and Mouse arrive.

Mouse freezes

Try reinstalling the CD software program.

Normal 0 Disconnecting the Mouse Receiver from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the Mouse Receiver to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud

Mouse stops responding randomly

The issue may not necessarily be with the mouse. Are you able to use the keyboard once the mouse freezes? If you not even able to use the keyboard, there is some application installed on your computer or a virus due to which the mouse freezes. If, in case, the keyboard works even though the mouse is stuck, try changing the USB port or try a different mouse. Please revert back with any other observations. Good Luck
