SOURCE: need a replacement power cord for harmon kardon sound sticks II

its not that expensive for a power cord. they are running on 12v so you go and buy a 12v power supply with a jack that fits the speakers or you can just find a power supply at home if you have one that is 12v

SOURCE: can i power my 12v computer speakers with my computer power suppl

Generally NO.  Most computer speakers are self powered.  The speaker output from the computer is only enough to power headphones.  However, you can plug that into a stereo and then use the speaker attached to the stereo output.

SOURCE: speakers need power scource

Yes, a general purpose 12V DC power adapter can be bought easily from your local electricals shop.Should not cost much.

Alternatively you can look for a cordless phone or CD player adapter with 12V DC output.

Connecting speakers to a pc

The 12v dc power supply is for the speakers. There should be a spot for it on them. All modern PCs use power speakers, since the sound cards have no amplifier.

According to this similar request http://www.fixya.com/support/t1489202-need_replacement_power_cord_harmon you're looking for a 12v 2500ma power supply. Take the speaker with you to someplace like Radio Shack and I'm sure they can set you up.

Or look on eBay. This one looks like it would fit just about anything in the U.S.

TV's are known for their audio chops. Neither are PC speakers. You'll need to access the audio through a variable output on the TV if you want control of the volume. SEE THE TV MANUAL. Or get the audio from the Cable Box directly (or any video source)

Need power supply -- what are compatible power supplies?

Take a look where the power-adapter connects into the speakers. Also, look on the "brick" of the power-adapter.

Look for 'AC' or 'DC'.
Look for '6V' or '9V' or '12V' or '18V'.
Look for the Amperage rating.
If 'DC', look for the small pictograms, either:
* ring-positive-post-negative, or,
* ring-negative-post-positive

With that information, check Thrift Stores, and then check the "big-box" computer stores.

Who needs a «remote DC terminal» ???

Hello labdes,

The "remote" terminal of the amp requires a +12V signal to rurn the amp on. Normally, this is supplied by a specific wire from the vehicle "head unit". But you can simply jumper it to the positive 12V source. + should go to the 12V positive and to "remote", - to the 12V negative. I'd wire a switch across the "remote" and "power" terminals to have a way to turn the amp on and off.

I'm hoping that your "car amp" has speaker level inputs, because the PC card is probably not going to have preamp outputs. If the amp has only RCA type inputs, you will need to purchase a LOC (line output converter) such as the PAC SNI-35 shown here. They are also usually available at your local car audio shop and some big box stores.

Hope this helps.
