Make sure your internet cord is plugged in
go into control panel see if your network shows if it shows but has a ? or ! mark then update the driver.if it shows with no marks then
right down what type of driver uninstall and restart should automatically pick up driver if not then in control panel add new hardware follow instructions.Let me know if this helped if not I have another solution to try

If the light is on- -on the back of your tower where you plug your ethernet in then go into control panel add new hardware

click to add your network or scroll to the bottom and add new hardware

If there is no light or adding new hardware does'nt work

    then I have another solution.

    DEKR Jan 13, 2009

Okay first make sure your cord is securely plugged in and all your modem plugs are securely plugged in and modem light is on.

If the light comes on just a matter of a lose plugin

OTHERWISE right these steps down and follow them carefully

Sounds like a lot of steps but i've had to do this many times

If all this is intact then what you need to do is shut down.

Remove the tower casing and then find your lan card

Unscrew the screw if any they carefully but securely hang on to it with both hands remove it carefully.

Set the case on for a minute restart pc.Let it load then shut down again remove case and with both hands replace lan card in slot make sure it is in securely and tight. Then set case over it and restart. This should pick up the lan card sometimes after reinstalling windows you lose your lan card settings.PLEASE DO THIS STEP BY STEP IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE ALL IS SECURE

As far as I know you should be able to open your case

I am sure you just need to replug your lan in it does happen after installing windows.

I have never opened an emachine so I can't really explain how to do it without seeing it

Some mdgs are made like that and the casing has to be popped off.

Some small pc repair stores will open your case for you for nothing or under 5

  • DEKR
    DEKR Jan 13, 2009

I'm gonna see if I can go see a emachine case so I can tell you how to open it

Cause I am sure we can solve your problem

May take about 20 minutes then I'll get back to you

  • DEKR
    DEKR Jan 13, 2009

Okay since you can't get on the internet we need to manually install this driver

your driver is Realtek RTL8139/810xFAMILY FAST ETHERNET NIC NETWORK DRIVER

    you should write this down

Okay now your going to open control panel

    add new hardware click next

    check hardware connected

then next scroll down and if you see the network click on and proceed

IF YOU DO NOT SEE IT SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM CLICK ON ADD NEW HARDWARE DEVICE

CLICK THEN NEXT CHECK CHOOSE FROM A LIST SCROLL TO NETWORK ADAPTERS CLICK IT

THEN NEXT AND YOU WILL FIND YOUR DRIVER SOMEWHERE IN THERE

THEN FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS TO INSTALL THEN RESTART YOUR PC.

  • DEKR
    DEKR Jan 13, 2009

Let me know if you were able to manually install

    and if it's working

    thanks

    TYPE IN YOUR SEARCH

find the page that says emachines product supports and downloads

    open it

    choose your series

scroll down click download and then scroll you'll see network adapter

    download and save

then take to your other pc and download it on there

Reinstall windows xp to laptop now cant connect to the internet

Hi there.
You may have to use a keyboard toggle command, hold down Fn and if you can see a wireless icon on one of the F keys press it.
Hopefully the wireless will activate and connect.
If you can't see the keys post back with the make and model of the laptop.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Add internet connection, settings after reinstall sp

On Dell computers it is rare that the XP install disk properly reinstalls your Network Card drivers. If you have the Device Drivers CD that came with your dell (usually a blue or gray disk) you can install the drivers (usually a Broadcom or Intel NIC /LAN or Network Interface driver) then your PC can "see" internet connections. The CD will show you all the drivers you can install with a check mark next to each that apply to your system.

If you do not have the CDROM, go to support.dell.com on another PC and enter your system tag# (on the bottom or back) and look in "Network" and find the driver there. There are a few options so you might need to try several drivers till you find the one that works. 90% of Dell pc's come with Broadcom so try that first. save the driver to a disk or flash drive and run it on the PC in question.

You also will likely need drivers for the video card and chipset as well.

My computer have too many downloads that it makes my go slow or errors. I reinstall an XP home version operation system, and now I dont have nothing all my programs and the internet is gone. What do

If you REINSTALLED FRESH you will have to REINSTALL ALL of your Drivers and Software as you wiped them out. If you just upgraded, you can use the System Restore option under START - ALL PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - SYSTEM TOOLS to set the PC back to a date before you upgraded. That is provided you have a system restore point set.

Ethernet Controller

I had to reinstall XP like 6 months ago, on a dimensions 3000. just reinstall the drivers. here i think this is all of the drivers.
just start "Dell Driver Reset Tool.EXE"
and run "Sownd driver for 3000.EXE"
driver for vga "Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller.exe"

and the Ethernet driver "Intel PRO100 VE Network Connection.exe"
Click Here for a zip of all the drivers.
