It appears you will have to get an internal CD and slide it into one of your bays. It might very well be housing an extra battery at the moment. Do you happen to know if you have 2 batteries?

Bill, this type of laptop is an LG 11" screen. It never came with a CD drive. An external drive needed to be hooked up by way of the two USB ports on the right side.
These were not the best laptops and only held a charge for about an hour.
These laptops though are very user friendly and LG does support their electronics very well.

You can try to run a recovery without a disc. Shut down the computer. hold the zero key and the power button at the same time on reboot. This should take you to the recovery screen. Good luck =]

Perform recovery using HP recovery manager.i.e. Press F11 during boot up and it will take you to the HP recovery manager.

HP and Compaq Notebook PCs are configured with a recovery manager or recovery media that enables you to repair or reinstall the original operating system. Depending on the model of the notebook PC, there may be a recovery CD or DVD included, or your model may have the Recovery Manager tool to create a personal recovery disc. Follow etaf's instructions above, if you cannot enter the Acer recovery utility try this...

Do not press and hold Alt + F10. Do it like this... From the Acer splash screen press and hold the Alt key while constantly pecking the F10 key.

However, you want to save all of your photos, favorites folder, music etc. on an external disk or flash drive before entering the Acer restore utility above. Anything that DID NOT come pre-installed on your netbook will be lost. Once restored, always, always, always back up your system with an external disk or flash drive as you go, meaning that as you add legitimate software and personal files to your PC and your PC works normally, back it up. It's cheap and the next time this happens you can enter plug in your flash or disk run the restore, and have EVERYTHING back including the stuff that did not come on your system when you bought it.
