Wireless keypad for craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener

I just bought a new wireless keypad for my garage door opener and I cannot get it to work. Everything has power. Sears states to push and release the learn button and then enter your new PIN number in the keypad and hold the enter button until the opener clicks two x or the lights blink. I cannot get it to take the pin on the new pad. I am afraid to erase everything because I cannot lift the door by myself and rely on the keypad and my remote in my car. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the new keypad is simply not compatable with your opener. Contact the sears store and speak with the sales person trained on garage door openers. You may find that you simply do not have the wireless key pad you need. good luck

Door opens by itself

Will likely need a little more info. I am presuming this is the wireless version since it's a Digi Code. However, my first thought is that the problem is not necessarily with the keypad. Most likely could be a programming issue. Have you tried to clear the memory on the Logic board on the Garage door opener and then re-program all of the openers, including the keypad?
Some Logic boards have a dedicated slot for one wireless Keypad that is made specifically for that brand of opener.
A helpful hint: When programming the keypad, have another person help you. Have them push the program button according to the programming instructions for your GDO Make.(Garage Door Opener)
Then you key in the required sequence for programming your keypad immediately after the programming button has been pressed. This reduces the amount of time the logic board wireless memory is in the learn state.
Sometimes stray radio transmissions operating at or near your openers frequency can inadvertantly be programmed into your openers logic board. Especially if there are other same manufacturers GDO units wireless remote transmitters in use within close proximity operating on the same frequency.
Another possible cause is in your hard-wired wall control button or wiring to it. There could be a short in the contacts causing the opener to operate, or a short in the wire to the wall control button. I've run into smashed wires that have had the outer insulation pierced and the metal staple shorts across both wires. (this is not good for the logic board, as it can damage sensitive circuitry on it. Causing more Costly repairs)
One way to isolate the issue is note when this occurs. Is it always the same time every day? Or is it completely random?
I hope these possible solutions help MASTER_TECH1

Change the battery in the keypad and reprogram
1- find learn button on back of motor
2. push the learn button ( LED stays on for 30 seconds)
3. during the 30 seconds enter a 4 digit code on the keypad , then press the enter button for 5 seconds
NOTE: do not pass throught your safety sensors when programming

How do I change the code on our liftmaster 1/3 H.P. gargage opener

To program the keyless entry, first locate the smart/learn button. On the chain drive models, this button is on the end farthest from the door. On the belt and screw drive models, it is on the right side as you face the door from the opener. You simply press and release the smart/learn button. You now have 30 seconds to enter your four digit PIN number into the keypad and hold the enter button for five seconds. Wait one minute and test the keyless entry by entering your four-digit PIN number and pressing enter.

With some Security+ models, you can also program your Model 940CB Wireless Keyless Entry without climbing a ladder, right from your Multi-Function Control Panel. Simply enter your pre-selected code and press and hold the enter button on your Keyless Entry. Then press and hold the light button and the pushbutton on your Multi-Function Control Panel. The garage door opener lights will flash to confirm that the Keyless Entry has been successfully programmed.

To program the keypad, first unplug the garage door opener from the electrical outlet. Next, remove the nameplate from the console that the keypad plugs into and locate the program/operate switch. Flip the switch to program. Next, enter your desired four-digit PIN number into the keypad. Slide the switch back to operate, and plug the garage door opener back in. The keypad should be programmed. I just added a new security camera system in my home. When the power supply for the cameras is turned on, the remote control for my car only works within a few feet of the unit. My wireless keypad is also...

We believe the problem is not coming from the 12VDC power supply. Can you try the following and let me know the test result?

1. Unplug the power supply box
2. disconnect all the camera power wires from the power supply.
3. Turn on the Power supply "without any camera connect to it"
4. Check and see if your garage door opener work properly.
5. is the remote control built-in your car or it comes with the garage door opener?

email the result to and I will find a solution for you.

Garage door opens w/ Power outages

You will need to get a surge protector on this unit first of all. You will have to replace the logic board and maybe the wall button or sensors depending on how bad the surge was. Any time the power goes out the logic board can be affected by it. Thanks BB

My Liftmaster 373LM remote and wireless 377LM Keypad not working

You should have a small wire hanging down from the back of the opener. This is the remote control antenna wire. Strip off about and inch splice a wire to it. The connections is just twisting the wires together. Run the extended wire up to the ceiling and down the wall where the door is located. Most of the time in the top corners where the weather stripping is, there is a small gap. Slip the wire through the gap so the wire extends outside of the door. The key to this is getting the wire outside. 99% of the time this extension of the antenna will be enough to conquer interference issues. You are correct that you are running on 315mhz and the military will not affect it. Let me know if it helps

& to 10n years on a door opener is good. Did you set the pressure up high there are two dials on the back and they are numbered 1 2 3 to 10 set them to 8 or 9 and see if this solves your problem. What is happening is the sensors are tell your door its hitting something dose the light blink after it stops I need to know more. I would just buy a new one don't get this one fixed not worth it.

Garage door not working

increase the opening force by 1/4 turn and decrease the closing force by 1/4 turn on the control box, where the drive shaft for the door is attached, and where the motor is. increase the or decrease the adjustment till the door can be open with minimum of torque.
