Is it overheating? Are the fan and vents clean? Is the laptop getting sufficent air flow from the bottom? A Laptop Cooler is a option. Try SpeedFan to increase the fan speed: it's free. Let us know how it goes.

Sometimes it freezes on startup, otherwise it powers out during startup.

My hp mini is switching off unexpectedly, what might be the problem

The cooling fan and ports may be clogged, or the DC jack in the laptop has developed bad connections, both will require the laptop be dismantled down to the motherboard to address the issue.

If the Computer restarts randomly, then the issue might be due to any damaged Operating System Files.
But, if the Computer shuts down randomly, it is due to the Processor.
All the Processors will be designed in such a way that, if there is any overheating issues, the Computer will shut down randomly.
The overheating might occur due to the malfunction of the Cooling Fan in the Computer.
As this is a overheating issue, it would be better to get the Unit examined at the Service Center.
Replacing the Cooling Fan in the Computer should resolve the issue.

I have a Vostro 1700 laptop. Normally i would press the start button the laptop to start up the computer, but recently, when i put the power switch on on my plug socket on the wall the computer just starts...

- buttons, especially the power button could be grounded. This needs replacement and repair. You will need to contact the manufacturer for support if warranty is still active. A technician needs to be there to replace some parts

- The reason why the computer went straight to diagnostic mode is because the power button could be grounded since it's turning on automatically when plugged and when the power was disconnected the system shuts down unexpectedly. Turning on a computer that experienced unexpected power loss may result to running in diagnostic mode

- You might as well check the battery.

Aspire 5630 - Unexpected shutdown!! This weekend, the laptop just shutdown without any warning! I switched it back on, and then after 30 mins, the same issue!!! I checked the battery, and was charging OK....

Depending on the age of the laptop, it could well be overheating. Let it cool down good, and try again. If that is the problem, you will have to clean out the cooling system with a can of air.
