What a stupid solution! You will ruin the motor and switch, not to mention cause corrosion. Take the fan apart and clean it.

I have the same 1 , I take mine outside and hose it out , dont spray the switch so much and let it dry very well before plugging back in.

How to remove the cover to clean the Cyclone 20" fan?

Hi,

Removing the cover is not actually required.
You may blow the whole fan clean with compressed air or a compressor.

In case you need to remove the cover, just twist it around and a pull it. It will come off.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

How do i clean my Duracraft Tower Fan Kaz Inc DY012

I just figured out how to take off the back of the DY-012. You know about the 2 screws on the top, in the 'handle' area. But there is a third screw on the bottom. It is hidden by a small button-sized piece of plastic used to cover the hole the screw is in. This piece of plastic has a pin-hole that you can stick a pin (haha) or a paper clip in, to pop it out. After the 3 screws are out, you pull the back away from the front starting from the bottom, and when you have loosened both sides of the back, you pull down to remove it from the top. You should also see a small **** at the top. Stick a very thin screwdriver or knife in it to help unclip the back from the top. Once you have access to the inside, you just have to figure out the order in which to remove screws to have access to the harder-to-get-to screws. I must say, the plastic cleans VERY easily! My fan was covered with nicotine which accumulated extra dust and dirt, and it now looks brand new!

The fan motor works, but is not venting the room

It might take some work, but you should be able to get at the exhaust vent by removing the grill, light fixture and fan. Might be best to try and find where it is vented to, hopefully an outside area. If you can, there are some small over the counter type of things you can use to try and clean the vent. One is a window brush that is on a long pole, found in the window cleaning area of the Home Depot. This is a soft brush that will not damage (famous last words) the exhaust vent. There is also a flapper door of sorts that closes at the fan when the fan is not running. Might be that the flapper is stuck in the closed position. Good luck!!

Lasko 3520 20-Inch Cyclone fan - disassemble fan for cleaning?

How do I clean my Cyclone or Air Companion™?
Lay the fan face up on a flat surface. The front grill should be facing you. Remove the screws from the rear grill. Place a flat-head screwdriver into the gap between the front and rear grills. Pull the front grill towards you, exposing the fan blade. Do not remove the knobs on either side. Then, wipe the blade with a soft, damp cloth. Use a mild detergent if necessary. Be sure not to touch the motor. Click here to download product instruction sheet.

How do I get my cool operator fan apart to clean the darned thing

hi! there,
well! no brand and model, anyway the guard fan has a quick clip lockaround the fan blade,be sure to unplug your electric fan before doing this, unlock clip lock then the fan has a quick handy lock knob at the center of the fan observed loosening knob there is direction arrow in loosening this if i'm wrong going counter clockwise,or take the direction indicated marked on top of knob.
pull out the blade and have it clean if this is a plastic or aluminum clean it with water and spounge/cleanser,avoid to distorsion on fan blade if happen this will wiggle when run again be carefull and on the second guard fan still connected to your electric fan, there is plastic lock nut release and pull out the 2nd fan guard, try to clean this with water and cleanser, the motor assembly with control and stand just wipe it out ,don't try to get wet specially the motor, let all dried up before reassemble.reverse the process to eassembly

How To Clean

On the back of the fan there are 6 recessed phillips head screws around the circumfrence of the fan. You must use a longer screwdriver as the screws are set in a couple of inches.

The two screws on the bottom are a little harder to see.

There are also two clips on the sides front cover. Squeeze on the sides gently to release these.

On the backside of the fan at the botton is a little screw cover. Remove the cover then remove the screw. On the backside top of the fan right under the handle are two screws remove both of them. Gently pry the sides apart, about half way down on both sides are two molded clips, you can use a small flat blade screw driver to help seperate the cover.
