Question about GE Washing Machines
I wanted to add that my Energy Star is most likely an older model. However we have never had a problem until this horrid thumping. Just wanted to add that info if it helps. Thanks!
The drum is supported by springs. Maybe one of them broke. You might have to open it up to visually inspect it. You can find videos on YouTube on how to do it. Good luck!

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Order the upper aggitator clutch/dog kit $15. Now top half of the aggitator is doing its thing just like the bottom half. Hope this helps someone else too.

The drum has coiled springs to secure the drum in place while it spins. You will need to remove the top and the front panel to see if they are securely attached
