Hi, uninstalling the onboard video will only be reinstalled by Windows next time you boot up. Disabling it in the Device Manager might and mght not do the trick if your mb is set on using the onboard. You might want to try and disable the onboard video in the CMOS/BIOS set-up. In some instances, you are asked in the BIOS what video will be used such as onboard, AGP or PCI or a selection of something like that. Also you can try and not allocating any memory to the onboard video. Hope this be of some help. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck.

SOURCE: new sound card for HP d530 small form factor..

You just have to look for a "low-profile" PCI card. Creative makes one, Audigy SE SB0570LPVP

Search that for a vendor, or low-profile for other manufacturers.

SOURCE: soundcard

Hey there, the HP bios is pretty smart - it should automatically detect a new sound card and switch off the internal one when installed - alternatively you can go to the 'system devices' panel and disable it in the software as well.
hope this helps
cheers

My hp Compaq DC7900 has 5 beeps with 5 red light flashing does this 3 times. then the fan kicks on. That's all it does. Anyone know what this is?

This is a sign of a pre-video memory error. If your DC7900 has a video graphics card, that card has probably failed or doesn't have enough power. On at least some of HP's Compaq DC7900, the video card uses a PCIe x16 slot.

There are two things to consider when you choose a new video graphics card: 1) it must fit in a slot in your case and 2) your power supply must meet the requirements of the card. The small tower format of the HP Compaq DC7900 came with a 240W power supply. Most modern video graphics cards often need more power. You may need to upgrade the power supply.

I hope this helps.

You may have to go into the properties of the drive itself to change it to read and write mode Go to My Computer tick on the drive select properties and select read and write. Allow files to be indexed as well. Unpick the read only selection.

Connect 2nd monitor to small form factor dc5800

Hello.

You have 2 options to connect an additional monitor to your desktop:

1. install a low profile video card that has multiple video outputs
2. purchase a USB to VGA/DVI device to allow a 2nd monitor to be connected.

Your model PC does not have a DisplayPort on it (newer PC's have this and this provides another monitor connection). So you will need to add hardware to the PC so you can connect the 2nd monitor.

Because you have the "Small Form Factor" model, standard height video cards will not fit in it. You would need to get the shorter model video card - typically labeled "low profile".

The other option is to purchase a USB to VGA or USB to DVI adapter that would allow you to connect the second monitor to your PC. The only thing to watch for when getting this type of adapter is to make sure your current Operating System is supported by the adapter. Many adapters that work on Windows XP will not work with Windows 7 or 8.

You can download all of the drivers (not just the display drivers) for your system from the HP web site.
Your specific system's drivers are available on this page.
You will probably benefit from downloading and installing most of the drivers listed on the page linked above. There are a number of drivers that are specific to the D510 small form factor.

The first thing to try is either installing the latest video drivers or the re-installing the current drivers. Reboot and use the driver software settings to acquire the monitor and establish extended desktop (or whatever). You most likely have Intel integrated graphics (this page will link to your drivers, depending on your version of Windows:
