Most annoying to me. Doesn't happen on a Lnovo or Dell.

I am a doctor in a large group using Toshiba Portege tablet PCs. We have about 30 used in our practice and we have had them about 9 months. Most of them have the "cursor jumping" problem when a certain key is randomly touched; mine is the "y" key, others have the problem with their "t" key.

Toshiba is not owning up to the problem and come up with fixes that are not useful, such as shutting off the touchpad and just using the right-click. They originally insisted that we were touching the touch pad inadvertently. If that were the case, why does it jump backwards 10 spaces sometimes and other times two lines? It is very frustrating.

We have gone up the ranks of the Toshiba company and they are not being helpful at all. It is making a mess of our electronic medical records.

We have now retained a lawyer in the hopes of returning the computers to Tech Depot and CDW where we purchased them. Have others been successful in pleading their case with Toshiba?

It's probably a bad contact in your keyboard.
Best think to do is take it out for cleaning.
the service manual should be that one :
http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/26242/Toshiba_Satellite%20A20%20Series.html
with a bit of info her:
http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/laptop-disassembly-1.htm

you can try to shake it (to if something broken in there), vacuum it (be carefully),
If nothing better think replacement..
Thanks for using fixya…good luck and don’t forget to rate this…
cheers

Samsung labtop cursor jumps around when typing causing all kinds of problems including highlighting and erasing entire lines or sentences!

Press Fn & F10. This disables the touchpad. You will have to use arrows or a mouse to move the cursor. This helps when you are doing a lot of typing. Press the same keys to enable the touchpad when you are finished typing.

When I type the cursor jumps back into the text that I've already typed. It's an Acer One D255. What's going on?

you pobbly wont belive me here because it didnt when i was told it is because of the touchpad being so sensitive and not being sunk in when you are typing your sleeve will touch it even slightly and it jumps back its so annoying lol....if you don't believe me what to do is write a sentence with your hands basically pointing down and you will see it doesn't happen any more its just a design flaw i hope this helped and please contact me and let me know what happens

When i am typing something my curser jumps and types over something I've already typed. example: when i am typing hing my curser jumps and typesomet

Have you found the answer yet? I don't know that particular laptop but if you use the touchpad, it happened to me because even the lightest brush against the surface with a stray finger would make the cursor jump all over and do the same quite annoying thing as you described.

Toshiba keyboard problem with window vista enterprise

I have seen this before.

Either you are touching the touchpad with your palms as you type, or the touchpad is set to be very sensitive. Either way, you should reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad. Go into the control panel, and go into the mouse properties. On the hardware tab, you should be able to find advanced properties and the sensitivity adjustment. Move the slider to the left to reduce sensitivity. If you stroke the pad very very gently with your finger, the cursor should not move at all. adjust sensitivity until this happens.

Reduce the sensitivity until the cursor stops jumping. This will fix it. :)

Jumping cursor on EEE pc.

You're hitting the touchpad with your palms as you type. Either lift your hands when you're typing or temporarily disable the touchpad.

Ah, the Vista mouse annoyance! Go into your control panel, and in the Mouse properties, set the pointer speed a bit slower until the cursor stops bouncing all over.

I recently acquired this problem after having my computer serviced. I have been using it for over a year with no difficulty. I read somewhere that this is a microsoft problem, one of their service packages. The question is, which one?

Typing problem

the problem is where the mouse cursor is. When you begin to type have the mouse cursor as far down the page as possible the glide pad can pick up the slightest variant of pressure and move your text to the position where the mouse cursor is.

Cursor jumps around

Try this software:

http://code.google.com/p/touchfreeze/downloads/list

Touch Freeze will disable the touchpad when you start typing. I have not used it, but give it a try.

Also, your touchpad could be wearing out or a driver reinstall could be in order. My wifes Toshiba had a bad touchpad and the cursor would jump all over the place. I disabled it and she now uses an external mouse. No problems anymore.
