Question about Canon DK100I Calculator

1 Answer

How do I connect the Canon DK100i to the desktop? The PC recognizes a new "USB Human Interface Device" but doesn't do anything else. Any ideas? Thanks Dave

Just plug the cable into the usb of a computer and then connect it with the calculator and push the button pc/cal and it becomes like a numeric pad of a computer. It works with the computer calculator or with Excel forms

You say it doesn't work. Have you checked the batteries? Are they new and are they installed correctly? Have you checked the USB connection, switching USB ports in case the one you are using is bad? Have you pushed the "connect" button on the bottom of the mouse to connect to your computer?
If you have completed all these steps, I would then go to the device manager and search for mice or human interface devices. If you find the mouse there, uninstall it and let the system find it when it restarts.

MOUSE WILL NOT WORK

You haven't said what kind of mouse you have or whether it used to work.
I'll offer some suggestions for the most common problems:
If it used to work but now doesn't, try a system restore back to when it did work.
If that doesn't work--are you using a wireless mouse? If so, are the batteries fresh and are they inserted correctly?
If you are using a wireless mouse, have you pushed the little "connect" button on the bottom?
You haven't said, but is the other mouse a wireless one or a USB mouse? If your USB mouse doesn't work, try another USB port. If you go into the device manager, do you see a "human interface device" or a "mouse" listed? If so, it will tell you the system recognizes the device. If that is missing, there is a good chance the mouse is dead.

My usb ports are not recognizing any devices such as my iphone, ipod, etc. I have a dell dimension 4700 runnning win xp sp3

It seems that many people are still getting the 'USB Device not Recognized' problem from time to time. Unfortunately there is no easy fix.

Firstly, it's recommended that you make sure every one of your motherboard drivers are completely up-to-date, but you probably already knew that.

In XP, after a USB port isn't used for a long while the USB driver built into the OS sets the OHCI controller to suspend. When you plug a device back in, it can sometimes fail to 'wake up' properly. This problem was supposedly fixed in SP1 but there is a related registry hack that may still be able to help.

Run regedt32.exe and navigate to;

HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb

Create the Usb key if it doesn't already exist. Under this key, create a new DWORD value called DisableSelectiveSuspend and give it a value of 1. Then restart the PC.

A long shot perhaps, but I recall having similar problems with a USB hub built into my Microsoft keyboard and adding this key seemed to solve it. It wouldn't hurt in trying icon_smile.png.

Alternatively, removing all entries relating to USB in Device Manager and all associated USB drivers will force XP into refreshing the USB driver stack.

Begin by unplugging all USB devices, then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall any USB driver software. Next, boot up into safe mode and go to Device Manager. Once in device manager make sure 'Show hidden devices' is checked under the View menu. Uninstall all device entries in this order;

1. USB peripheral devices (printers etc.)

2. HID and/or Composite USB (Human Interface Devices) You're using PS/2 input devices so you may not have this entry.

3. USB Root Hub(s)

4. USB Host Controller(s) (Universal or Enhanced Host Controllers)

Then boot back into Windows (not safe mode) and it should populate the Root Hubs & Host controllers again. Proceed to plug your USB devices back in, starting with your powered hub. Be aware that most USB printers and scanners need to have their drivers installed first before you plug them in.

Open Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices select the USB device with the error icon on it (has small yellow triangle next to it), right click, select Disable (icon will change), right click again and select Enable - it should be automatically recognized and configured.

Hi I am trying to get my daughters stylin studio to work, but the camera wont. In my device manager i can see its connected, but the USB Human Interface Device has a yellow exclammation mark next to it....

Brian,

Go to the manufacturers website and download the most current driver. Go to device manager and uninstall the device.
Run the driver install that you downloaded and then reboot the computer.
It should pick up driver you installed.
You are probably seeing the ! because windows loaded a generic driver and the device does not recognize it.

How do i set my danon dk100i for use on PC

This calculator is plug & play. No drivers are required for installation.

You just connect it to your Windows laptop or PC with the supplied USB cable and the required drivers will be automatically installed.

After the installation is complete, you can use the calculator as an external numeric keypad.

After you connect and install the drivers, opennotepad or calculator application and use the connected DK100i's keypad to input numbers.

If you did not receive the USB cable with the calculator, contact your dealer.

I have a gigabyte wireless mouse, and have charged the batteries and tried to sync the mouse, but nothing is happening

Look in device manager and see if it recognizes the device.. should appear as a human interface device and under the mouses. If not then unplug the mouse from the usb port and plug it back in. If it still doesn't recognize the device then search for new hardware or find a driver on the internet.
