Question about Computers & Internet
It attempts to install the driver itself when I plug it in, but it always fails to install. I tried going the disk management route, but it doesn't show up. Help please?

Try the other way around, first install the card then boot the system up. When Windows finds the card and asks for the driver, insert your driver cd and choose install driver manually and point windows to your cd drive to force the use of the correct driver. It may be that windows is trying initially to install the generic driver.

the hard drive you have is plug n play.
if windows does not recognize it, you may have to uninstall the hard drive.
right click your computer. click properties.
click on the "Hardware" tab. Click on "Device Manager".
open the category of "Disk Drives".
If you see your drive with a yellow exclamation point or a red "X", continue. If it does not, either it was dropped or its a faulty drive.
Right click your drive and click "Unistall". Click OK.
Now, unplug the drive and plug it in again.
it will install by itself.
Go to my computer and check that its there. If its not, you may have a bad drive. either send it for a new one (if still in warranty) or replace it.

SOURCE: same problem
Check with your computer manufacturers website for any driver updates for the motherboard and also be sure to check with microsoft's optional driver and software update section which may hold a driver update for your computer.
