Sounds like you have a bad drive block and possibly a bad basket drive I would stop useing it before you create damage to the basket drive. take the agetator off. sometimes they have a dispenser for fabric softner take it off or it will just have a cap remove the cap with a putty knife. next you will either see a bolt 11millimeter or you will see a hole that looks like a square. remove this and pull up on the agetator to takeit of next you will see a clip it will be somwhat greasy remove it. look at the shaft you will see a nut that screws the basket down to the drive block. If the drive block is raised up off of the basket drive sometimes you can hammer it back down onto the basket drive make sure that you line the ears up female on the drive block and male on the basket drive. Before hammering back down though you have to remove the spanner nut. But if you have been useing this like this you may need a basket drive and pretty much have to rebuild the whole washer. But I would start by hammering down the drive block or replacing it. let me know thanks //eg

At the end of the spin cycle, my Kenmore Washing Machine makes a grinding noise like an out of balance brake drum. What could be the problem

If your washer model number starts with 110. it's a whirlpool washer. Whirlpool use a spin tube with two notches in it. There is a block assembly that holds the inner basket down on to the spin tube. This can be accessed by removing the top of the agitator and take out the 7/16 screw. Lift the agitator to expose the top of the spin tube. The tube is stripped on top where the basket sits. When the washer stops spinning, the inner basket keeps moving. That is the noise you hear. Replace the spin tube and possibly the block.

The rubber belt is worn and slipping under load. (like a fan belt)
There could also be something caught in the belt or pulleys; clear it out and it should work.
If worn, replace belt soon...

Hope this helps!

Loud noise during spin cycle and agitator won't rotate

the machine is nknown to have bad main seals, in turn leading to the corrosion of the spin bearing, in which case makes it sound as if a helicopter is landing in your laundry room

Whirlpool type 111 cp1915409 top loader

A few things may cause a grinding noise during the spin cycle. If the washer fills normally, but when it starts to AGITATE or SPIN, it makes a noise, this is usually caused by a bad motor coupling, bad transmission, basket drive assembly, or drive motor that's starting to fail. I also wouldn't rule out the clutch. It's really hard to tell without being there to see and hear what it is doing. I would also hate to tell you to call a repairman, but it may be wise in this situation because, even if you DO know what the problem is, it may be beyond your capabilities to repair. I could give you step by step tips on how to replace the parts, but diagnosing the CORRECT one would be the challenge. I hope this helps you some. PS The likely suspect in this case would be the transmission. Not a guarantee, but a guess.
