When mixing egg whites kitchenaid k45 works great but try to cream butter and beater quits turning.

It will be a broken or missing pin through a gear or the planetary or something wrong with the fuse gear. It should be easy enough to find but you will need to split the gearbox cases to check.

My mixer turns on and the paddle turns, but when I add any ingredients to the bowl, it stops turning!

sorry to say but you have an inside gear problem, not catastrophic in and of itself, but it will require a full tear-down, the worm gear is either worn down or stripped, It is made of nylon and its supposed to wear out or give out if there is a problem. It appears that there is enough gear left to turn the paddle but as soon as you have any load on it well not enough tread left to keep spinning the paddle. Service center will cost from $150.00 to 200.00 depending on where your nearest KA service center is (that includes shipping) If you are good with mechanical stuff you can do it yourself for about $50.00 dollars. There are sites on the web that will show you how and your parts list from the kitchen Aid site will show you what you need to order off of ebay to repair it.

Kitchenaid professional HD leaking shavings

If they are metal shavings you have a bad gear in the motor head. needs tear down and new gears. YouTube video will show you how to do it easier than I can write it. If you don't find it let me know I can point you to it or walk you through it. Going to cost around 70 dollars

I would be inclined to replace the broken/worn gear and only any other bearings/bushes that show wear, which is probably none. I would remove any contaminated grease (it usually remains close to the failure point) and add more grease if necessary. The gear is a fuse gear and designed weaker to fail if the machine is overloaded so the gear that runs on it is unlikely to be damaged.

Makes noise when on but the blender doesn't turn.

It is most likely a stripped gear. Here is a link to the parts manual which contains the listing of the gears and shows you how to split the gear case.

Remove the chrome ring with a screwdriver by prying it off carefully. This exposes 5 screws, however they can't be accessed on all models. Remove the pin (17) that goes through the planetary housing and the drive shaft, and carefully drive the planetary housing from the shaft to expose the screws. Then remove the 5 remaining screws and split the case to expose the gears. The worn gears will be obvious.

Also check the bearings. Replace all affected parts. Remove all grease since metalic pieces will have contaminated it from any worn out gears. The grease is a special food grade grease which you can purchase along with the gears and bearings.

KitchenAid food processor makes a grinding/clunking noise while running. (Not supposed to be there.) Sounds like gears not aligned.

Blades won't turn - motor seems ok

It is most likely a stripped gear and most likely the worm gear which is driven by the motor shaft. Here is a link to the parts manual which contains the listing of the gears and shows you how to split the gear case.

Hi. Go to the whirlpool.com website, for some insane reason they don't list their mixers, enter a search for mixers, then find your model #. Look for a parts catalog. Look at the "exploded" drawings for the transmission area. There you'll notice that there are Front and Rear bearing locations. This drawing also shows the correct place for the "washer". Also, the front and back bearings may look alike, but the're not. Every part needs to be in it's correct place or damage will occur when you start it up, or when you place the machine under load. Let me guess...The original PLASTIC transmission housing broke causing damage to the worm gear assembly. If this is the case, your replacement transmission housing should be made out of metal. If it isn't, call customer service and demand that they send one. The plastic housing has no place in a Premium priced mixer, especially when they advertise that the mixer can handle heavy bread dough. Finally, check the bearing seats, when the worm gear failed it may have also damaged these seats. It happened on my Kitchenaid. Good Luck!
