1 Answer

Error u071 I have a pixma ip6700D when I changed the ink cartridge I got the error message UO71 that says I have more than one cartridge of the same color, which I don't.  I have reseated the cartridge, bought a new cartridge, thus far nothing has worked, when I reseated the cartridge the cartridge next to the one with the error message wouldn't light up. Any ideas????

That's great, but what if it's out of warranty? I've had my printer a little over a year, and now this U071 error has suddenly appearing consistently. Is the quality of Cannon printers such that I will need to replace them yearly, or as soon as the warranty is up?

Getting a UO71 code saying more than one ink tank is installed. The ink tank is full

Thats a defective cartridge, you need to replace the one whose light is out when they come to the center. Canon will replace defective cartridges for 30 days after purchase.

Canon pixma mp 810

Still just an ink error, you can't refill Canon inks without either replacing the chip or resetting the chip. If you are using genuine Canon, you just have a bad cartridge and Canon will replace for 30 days.

Thats a defective ink cartridge error, whichever one is turned off when you open the cover is the one you need to replace.

Error U071

I think I have come up with a solution!

When the error happens:

Open the cover and re-seat the cartridge.
Tilt the whole printer forward about 30 degrees or more
Close the cover.

This has worked for me multiple times now. I think there is a small sensor behind the contact chip that detects ink levels and when my printer is flat the level of ink is lower than the sensor, when I tilt the printer the error vanishes because the ink covers the sensor. Though I am not sure why the software in the printer determines that there are duplicate cartridges instead of just a low ink warning.

If you still can't get it try taking a standard pencil eraser and gently rub it over the contacts to clean off any oxidation, also do this to the prongs that contact the chip that are inside the cartridge carrier, They bend easily so do it very lightly.

Had the same error after replacing my black ink om my MP830.(UO71) I Put some Methylated Spirits on a cotton tip and gently cleaned the cartridge chip (allow it to air dry). This fixed my problem!

Canon Pixma MP500 UO71 error

I am also getting this error message. For a few days I could take out the offending cartridge and the printer would forget for one printing and then go back to telling me that two of the same cartridges were installed. HELP! I am about to chuck it out the window, though I believe CANON should send us all new ones.

"ink cannot be correctly detected" error U130

Hold down the "Stop/Reset" button for 5 seconds and it dismissed the first message, but then there was another for a different cartridge, etc. Eventually I got it to work.
