The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

IT IS REALLY SLOW WHAT CAN I DO

1. Update your anti-virus software. If it fails to update, you probably have a computer-virus.
2. Disconnect from the Internet. Does it now seem to run better? If so, then you probably have a computer-virus.
3. Run the updated anti-virus software, to scan for viruses.
4. Tell us more about the computer:
* manufacturer
* model
* CPU (Intel? AMD?) speed?
* how much RAM in your computer?
* how "old" is the computer?
* desktop or laptop?
* when is the last time that you took a can of compressed-air and gave a "blow-job" to remove all the dust from insdie the computer?
* how "old" is the disk-drive? Is it "failing" ? What speed? 4200 RPM? 5400 RPM 7200 RPM?
* when was the last time that you DEFRAG'd that disk-drive?
* Windows XP? Vista? 7?

Computer speed

There are several ways to boost a Computer and there are also several reasons why the Computer is slow, like virus, ram, temporary files, cookies, cache files, cpu overheating, motherboard dust-clogged, power supply, etc..etc..

[in most cases antivirus like Norton slows down the system which makes the system unstable. Also note that there's no multiple antivirus softwares installed on your system, if so uninstall both or all and reinstall which you think is most effective]

Well, first try with this utility....(click here to download)
Install it, run both the "Cleaner" and "Registry" cleaner. Restart your computer and check if it helps or not.
If this doesn't help, you need to check the whole system, I would suggest you to clean everything inside the box including the ram and the cpu with the heat-sink as well. Blow away all the dust on the motherboard and on the power supply unit. (you'll need to disassemble your system to do this).

It's also important to install an updated antivirus and run a full system virus scan.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

My computer is really slow going into differnt sites....the compressor fan is slow to start up...had my computer stripped down and tuned up, but it's still slow...they said the cpu is showing its age,...

Your computer going slow could be for the following reasons: 1 Not enough RAM - remove unwanted files by cleaning the disc. Also defragment the computer. Increase the RAM 2 Virus - remove the virus 3 If you do the above you will see the improvement and no need to have a new cpu

T2300 @ 1.66 Ghz, 981 MHz, too slow to run

nx6310 (now obsolete ,zero HP support on this) 12 years old.
in dog years that is 84 years.
all that and no OS stated is this DEAD XP" the virus magnet?
if yes, all XP are infected and slow, I'd bet you that !
It came with XP if not XP say how it got changed,using what.?

well , in my opinion all PC are slow. it is a relative term
compared to what? or when? 12 years ago?\
and doing what, that actions you do , seem slow. 100000 possible on all computers. endless apps or the OS it self just slow.

lucky you the CCFL screen back lamps are not dead as most are after even 5 years much less 12. a real shock that is.

Slow 101:
12 year old computers are slow, all are that old , (progress = speed)
12 year old XP is now infected. most are, and zero support from HP nor MS.
The HDD is slow, if not upgraded to SSD all HDD are slow and pathetic, try a new SSD and see the one thing that can make any PC go vastly faster, SSD, spend $100.
the HDD is fragmented run defrag now.
the OS is corrupted, as all are this old. (see virus and malware )

best is to retire it, get PC that is 2007 year or newer.
with w7 or newer.
and win, and have future.

do not invest cash in this junk PC for at least the reason of CCLF
if those die as they surely will , the cost to fix it as huge.
Id have never attempted to up grade any NX PC
none on the HP official retired list

Speed Of Computer

the PC is most likely bloated with lots of useless software, viruses, malware etc, but upgrading ram will give the biggest increase in performance, I would reccoment atleast 1 GB for windows XP systems and 2 GB for windows vista systems.

Want to increase the speed of my pc

Hello alanwemple,

Increasing the RAM is surely a good first step to speeding your computer up some. It was my impression that the a340n supports a total of 4GB, so you might want to recheck your manual. And 4GB would certainly be better than 2. As for the CPU, it's upgradeable on this machine, it uses a "Socket 478" chip. Simply remove the old one and insert a new one. But, the CPU is probably not contributing that much to your slowness problem.

Two things that I'd look at first, before I tackled the CPU is video performance and the hard drive. A faster video card with more video RAM can substantially speed things up. And, the hard drive may need some maintenance, starting with defrag. You may also want to do a disk cleanup and while you are at it, run a full virus check and malware detection program such as MacAfee or Norton to make absolutely sure that no bad stuff is slowing you down. And these are cheaper than replacing the CPU.

Hope this helps.
