Question about GE Refrigerators
Refrigerator Model GSH25KGB BB. First the water stopped dispensing, then a few weeks later the ice quit. Ice is still being made. During troubleshooting we removed the bin. No problems with the bin or shoot. With bin out, selected cubes, we depressed the paddle on door and observed the fork doesn't turn and the solenoid doesn't jump. On the door panel, the green light dims after a few seconds of depressing paddle. I do hear one click sound. Any advice would be appreciated greatly since it is so costly getting service to come out.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

I just repaird a unit with this same symptom. Yours may be the same. The plastic part that holds the switch was broken (pins). See the diagram at http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Whirlpool/KAZVHYR3.gif Item 15 is the part. The switch sets on a coupld pins and the pins break easily, thus the switch falls off and the dispensor lever can't operate it. If you look up inside with a flashlight you can see the switch, etc. and should be able to tell if it's held in place properly.

On advice from the tech I removed acess door. It was covered by frozen moisture.
I removed the motor it was full of water. I verified 120 volts at plug to motor from control
by depressing the door switch and ice dispenser lever at same time. The motor ohms out
but because of amount of water removed from it I am going to replace it and see what happens.

Cory, you sound like you have a bad water valve as well as a bad control board for your dispensor. If you've had any storms in your area in the past 4 - 6 weeks, it's very possible that the storm took both parts out.
We have parts for GE as well as mots other major brands, so please give us a call with your complete model number and we will get your parts out to you right away!
We hope this solves your problem and we look forward to being able to assist you with future issues.
Have a great evening.
