The beeps are possibly post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off. WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Make sure that your RAM modules and Cmos battery are securely seated on some motherboards Cmos batteries are soldered in. Open computer and reseat memory Sometimes when the computer is moved or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Test all power and data leads that attach from motherboard to your hard drive IDE SATA make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty If its a flat 40 pin ide it will be the first to fail. Check the graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust reinstall it Restart your computer the found new hardware wizard should activate a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and to its continue its cycle and to have and end to function Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd and floppy drive have secure make sure the connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty Computers need all Power and Data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work properly so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error also check the keyboard for secure dust free connection ps2 and or usb Hope this helps.

My HP Pavillion does not boot up. there is a blank screen with blinking cursor. When I press F2 it asks for a driver disc that I do not have.

Is it saying booting from disk?

Try to turn off your computer for about 5 mins. Once you turn on the computer, you will hear it beep. Just after the beep, press f8 and select your hard drive so that you can boot from it.

When turned-on. tower will not boot and only beeps

If you recently added new hardware, remove it. Also unplug any USB devices. If that doesn't get you past the BIOS screen, then you need to take your PC to a shop, it sounds like a bad motherboard.

Computer dead and beeping

If it beeps and not boot then it is the post routine telling you there is a problem. The post routine is run when you turn the power on to ensure the computer hardware is ok to run. The manufacturer of the bios routine can tell what is wrong by the type, number and duration of the beeps. Look up the code meanings and it will indicate the problem. If this sounds like nonsense to you then give the make and model of your machine and what the beeps sound like. ( beep beep beep delay beep beep beep) etc. and I'll look it up for you.

Beeping before booting

probably the RAM. Take it out and put it back in to check. You will need some RAM to boot, so try each stick separately if you can. I'm guessing though that you'll have to get at least one other stick of RAM to check. You'll probably find that one is bad. It's probably covered for life, but that would be a good reason to upgrade it.
