Question about Cell Phones

So two years ago my dad accidentally spilt some coke on the fax machine. We opened it up and cleaned it and it works EXCEPT the phone part of the fax machine. What is the problem? Or what could it be?

Try removing the phone's battery, then wash it out with water. Then put phone in a bag of white rice for a week. Then replace the battery.

I spilt coke on my phone

That's pretty good way to kill a phone.

Open it up, remove the battery. Clean the battery contacts if they are dirty (but be careful - batteries can give you a shock). Clean it with a lightly damp (not wet) cloth, and place it in a warm dry place to dry off with the battery removed, and case open.

It MIGHT come back to life.

I have the samsung continuum. 2 days ago i dropped it into a glass of coke. Everything was fine except that the camera comes up every 5 seconds and takes a picture. Also you know that thing that comes up...

Sounds like the buttons are stuck together. You could attempt to open it and clean it, but that will probably void the warranty. You could take it to a licensed store, or you could send it back for repairs.

I have a Clavinova 35/55/65 and 3 keys have stopped working. Did spill a coke there 10-15 years ago but except for the keys sticking a bit everything worked until now.

I couldn't find any tech data for 35/55/65, but it looks to be similar to a large Yamaha I had to repair a couple of months ago for this same issue.

Keyboards can be practically difficult to work in, and can have very fragile interconnects. I wouldn't recommend anyone unfamiliar with working with electronic equipment and the risks involved to attempt this repair.

It may well respond to careful cleaning of the rubberized contact strip that sits under, and is actuated by, the keys. The pcb pads underneath that act as contacts should be cleaned too. It's a good idea to remove any loose dust and debris with a vacuum and a soft brush before lifting the contact strip out, this reduces the likelyhood of introducing problems on other keys. I then used some isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud on the underside of the strip and the pcb pads. Very little pressure should be used in this process, as extremely fine layers of gold are involved, it's vital for reliable contact. I prefer not to clean areas for keys which were not affected.

There may be an additional issue, if the coke really was the cause then there may also have been acid corrosion of pcb track over the years. This should be repairable though. Inspection with an illuminated magnifier is recommended, or a cheap USB microscope will do a good job too.

Personally, I would say that this really is a job for someone qualified and experienced.

My dsc-t70 had diet coke spilt on it. pictures are bright+white.

I'm afraid so.
I understand that you cleaned the lens (externally accessible elements)?
In theory fixing this might be a matter of stripping the camera and cleaning it up (preferably with isopropyl alcohol), but this is fairly fiddly and it's easy to make things worse.
In any case, liquid spillage onto any camera might cause unpredictable effects. I noticed that coke spill is often not as bad as water as coke doesn't corrode the tracks on logic boards as rapidly and instead turns into "sticky goo". However, due to its stickiness it often causes various mechanical issues. Light distortion could be caused by the shutter stuck on open. Well, in any case, unless you are happy to tinker with your camera and completely strip and clean it, I can only suggest ebaying it for parts. Even broken t70s still fetch good prices.
Good luck,
Raf

My HP M1319f fax machine is having trouble sending faxes only to certain phone numbers. Is this a problem with the actual machine, or the phone line?

I have purchased the HP M1319f multipurpose machine 1 year ago and expected it to print as well as fax. Sadly to say 1 year later, the printing works as expected but the fax never worked consistently for me. The solution I found was to buy a used fax machine and only use the HP M1319f as a printer.

The problem I've read about this problem on HP forums was the fax speed of the M1319f. It is locked to 28.8k which means it is only able to communicate with some fax machines. Older machines that doesn't support 28.8 will get errors and the fax will fail. This is definately an HP problem but considering I purchased this 1 year ago, this problem will never be fixed. Avoid this printer at all costs if your considering to use the fax machine.

If you spill drinks on a keyboard, something is bound to break, and apparantly only the O key did... The only way to fix it is to get a new keyboard, I'm sorry. I hope this helps, Yannick.

We own an Emerson facsimile machine with integrated telephone. The model is FAX9150 and we bought well over 18 years ago. It runs excellent and except maintenance, we had had no troubles all this time......

My boss was upset to find out that in order for you to tell us where we could buy spare parts for our machine or even to know the nearest repair center, we had to pay.

He has decided to trash our fax machine and buy another... cheaper and from other trade mark.

Sorry.

I have a Compaq R4000 and recently spilt coke on the keyboard, the keyboard is now malfunctioning with wrong keys appearing on screen and some not working at all. Im pretty sure I will have to bring it in...

The keyboard is fixable depending on the amount of coke spilted on it and how long it took before removing the coke but it can be fixed. It won't cost nothing much because is just taking out the keys and spraying the board itself so the coke particules be remove throughly. Im sure its least that $40-$50. Depending on the specialist you carry it to.
