I am going to upgrade ram to 1 gb. can i use ddr2 1 gb ram to upgrade .motherboard is microstar model ms-6526 ver: 2 . present ram is ddr1 400 MHz, 512 MB

If your computer has two RAM slots on the motherboard, i would recommend trying it. The computer will run on the 512MB stick alone and just not recognise the other stick. And if it works it works.

I have searced for support documentation and came up with none for the original MS-6526

I run my original version MS-6526 on a 512MB PC2300 (DDR1) and a 512MB PC3200 (DDR1) and it runs just fine for games and videos.

Personally I would recommend trying the DDR2 first and if that fails, return the card and get a DDR1 card. They are expensive, but at least they work.

Pc3200 wont see it

I pulled up the specs on this board and the maximum memory speed for this board is PC2700 (333). PC3200 is (400). It is most likely out of range for the motherboard to use. I would try doing a bios update on the board with the old memory installed before returning the memory.

I have asus K8V-vm and i installed vista home premium which is working very well but when i try to install any kind of games or any software it do not support it.What should i do!

switch to xp pro sp2..
i guess ur using ram over 1gb..(though it may support upto 2gb ddr1 400/pc3200 fsb probably)!!
replace it with a standby n check..it may b a faulty ram..
make sure ur system clock speed is matching..
if ur using more than 1 ram, both must b of the same frequency..(eg 400fsb+400fsb / pc3200+pc3200 [correct]; 400fsb+333fsb [wrong])..
check if ur hdd is working fine and without any humming or oscillating noise..
also go for a bios update frm: http://support.asus.com/download/download_item.aspx?product=1&model=K8V-VM%20Ultra ....
..if ur not professional, do contact ur system admin/vendor....

Install DDR-DIMM PC3200 to MS-6367 MSI

That motherboard was made for PC2100 DDR266. A PC3200 DIMM *SHOULD* be backward compatible. Depending on the density of the PC3200 memory you might have problems. If you have not bought the memory yet I would go with the PC2100 for sure since the PC3200 will give you no speed gains at all and will be running at PC2100 speeds anyway.

If you already have the PC3200 memory then I would say just give it a shot. The worse case scenario is your machine will not boot up with the higher speed ram installed. Assuming you take all the normal hardware upgrade care and do not physically break anything you can test this memory with no harm to your motherboard.

Sl-75frv memorys

Dear Sir,

You can install upto 3 GB RAM. i.e. 1GB PC3200 DIMM RAM in each slot.

Please go to BIOS settings & load the defaults. / check following. BIOS settings.
DIMM clock & timing is auto/ detected by SPD (Serial Presence Detect)

Possibly the 1GB RAM you are trying to install does not have SPD / is faulty. Try with a new / working 1 GB RAM.

Hope this helps you friend...

Gigabyte GA-81EXW memory chips

Any 184-pin ddr ram should work on this. You can actually use pc3200 (ddr 400) ram as well. Pc2700 ram is ddr333, and a higher speed ddr ram like pc3200 will work just as well if not better than pc2700, it will simply go down to the speed that the processor requests the ram run at. It's all backwards compatible, faster ram can run slower if the computer needs it to run at the slower speed. Depending on the price you can find as long as you get 184 pin ddr ram either pc2700 or pc3200 with work fine with your motherboard. Peter
