If the battery is blinking orange, it means there is a problem with the battery connection. Try taking the battery out, use a canned air canister and clean out the area, and connect the battery back.
If that doesn't help, there is a change that it's a power error.

You can click on Start ' Control Panel ' Power Options. The Power Meter tab will give you battery status (charge level) , and the Advanced tab will allow you to select a check box to put a battery status icon in the systray (lower right corner of the screen). Remember to click the Apply button to make changes permanent.
There are a few things to check. The LED lights can tell you a lot. This will tell you more about the battery:
On the taskbar, double-click the power cord icon or battery icon to open the Power Meter dialog box.
Note: If the power cord icon or battery icon does not appear on the taskbar, click the show hidden icons button.
Press Fn+STATUS to view the power status box, which opens
in the upper-left corner of the screen. The power status box shows the
current power source, the battery charge level, and the power management
Look at the battery charge indicator (if applicable).
LED green - Battery is fully charged.
LED orange - Battery is charging.
LED blinking red - Battery charge is very low.
LED solid red - Battery is malfunctioning.
Note: This LED only lights up when the notebook is connected to AC power.
Press the battery meter button on the battery. The battery meter lights indicate the percentage of battery charge remaining.
Wait for a Low Battery warning message to appear.
If your battery charge indicator displays what looks like an inaccurate charge, you may need to recalibrate the battery.
To recalibrate the battery as mentioned, try this:
Connect the AC adapter and then turn on the notebook.
As soon as it starts and you see a startup screen, press the F2 key.
In the BIOS Setup utility, use the TAB key to select the Advanced menu.
On the Advanced menu, select Battery Auto Learning, and then press the SPACEBAR to select Enabled.
Use the RIGHT ARROW key to select the Exit menu. On the Exit menu select Exit Saving Changes, and then press ENTER.
At the Setup Confirmation prompt, select Yes, and then press ENTER.
The battery recalibration process begins and a screen opens showing you the progress.
When the recalibration has finished, and the message "Press [Esc] key to exit" appears, press Esc. The battery charge indicator now displays an accurate battery charge.
@ saxonyreyes Hi i am max. Most of the laptops can work without the battery by removing them and connecting to the power supply directly through the cord. However if the battery is already there and the power cord is also attached to supply and switched on then the battery comes into play.As long as the supply is on battery charges and powers the laptop and when the supply is turned off it discharges and keeps the laptop running as long as there is enough charge in the battery. There is usually a small icon at the down right corner of the screen that shows the status of the battery.
The icons from the left:
1. Power indocator
2. Hard Disk indicator --> it is a tube icon, not battery, but means hard drive.
3. Power Source indicator
4. Bluetooth indicator
The third from left means the power source indicator. Normally it is light green. If there is battery problem (can not charge or battery overload) it flashes amber/orange. If flashes red, it indicates that the battery power is low. You need to change the battery or connect the AC adapter.
