Question about Computers & Internet
Why won't my pc recognize my hdd's on first boot, but recognize's them when I press the restart, could it be the button on the way out?
I had a problem with a Seagate external hard drive, recently, where the PC didn't recognize the HDD on startup. BUT, if I unplugged the drive and plugged it back in (usb or power connection) after the boot was completed the system recognized it.
Turns out that I had to get a patch for the driver from Seagate for my specific brand new HP i7 computer.
I had to call technical support patiently have them walk me through all the stuff that I had already tried and, when I told them it didn't work, they had me try it on my other laptop. It worked, so, they gave me the web link to download a patch for that specific problem.
It's common when one or both manufacturers come out with brand new products that they're still getting the bugs out of...

this may or may not help, try taking out the cmos battery out (looks like a watch battery) and leave for a few minutes then replace, this will reset the bios.

SOURCE: a new hard drive
The solution for this problem is simple. I experienced it when I changed my HD last year. You need to download a SATA driver form nvidia for your motherboard. Make sure you have it on a floppy drive. Then when reinstalling the OS, on the blue screen at start, up press F6 when prompted. Then when it asks you, load the floppy driver. Problem solved. 100%
