There is sometimes a switch on remote controls to differntiate if you have the same model or make of the machines.
So you set them a DVD1 or DVD2 etc., this way you can operate two machines one at a time and not both responding to one command.
Have a look on your remote if not there then look into your op manual.

If you point the remote towards sensor, simultaneously hold down the number (1, 2, etc) you want AND the enter button for 5 or more seconds it should switch to the number pressed. Remember if you have a second one, make sure it's off or put towel over its remote sensor. Sue
Press the Setup button on your remote control to enter the on screen menus. Using the remote's navigation buttons, scroll to Language Settings, then Display Menu to set your preferred display language. The owner's manual can be found here for more details.
I had the Exact same problem, after finding nothing on the net I called
Panasonic customer-Support and they gave me the information which led
to the solution:
If your DVD screen reads 'remote DVD2':
Press and hold simultaneously the "2" & "Enter" buttons (for more than 20 seconds)
If the screen said remote DVD3 then you would hold "3" & "Enter"
What I found happens when this command is accepted, the DVD screen changes to display the channel & counter
e.g. "A2 0:00.26"
If the screen changes back to "Remote DVD2" this means that the signal
from the remote control has been interrupted (you stopped pressing, or
the batteries have become weak.)
Providing the batteries have power, try again remembering to hold the "Enter" and number displayed after DVD.
The first time I did this it seemed to take forever (more than 30secs.), but other times it's been accepted in 6 secs.
Sounds like you've accidently switched the remote to operate under remote code 2 - to switch it back to operate under remote code 1 you need to hold down the "Enter" button on the remote, and while doing that press the "1" key.
I had the problem where when i would try to use my remote, it would say "check remote2". I've got a DMR-E55. I called panasonic and they told me to hold down the "enter" and "2" button for about 10 seconds. then it worked. hope it works for you too.
