The tilt friction knob came apart on my tripod. I want to know the order of reassemblying the washers. Does the 'bent' washer go closer to the tripod or closer to the knob?

  • MIke Dec 15, 2012

the order is: Head, wavy washer, bearings, wavy washer, flat washer, screw knob. If you only have one wavy washer, you can omit the one next to the flat washer.

It should be head: wavy washer, bearings, wavy washer, flat washer, screw knob. If you don't have 2 wavy washers, then the wavy waher next to the flat washer can be omited.

Send it to these guys for repair: http://www.manfrottotripodparts.com/repairs.html
There is a pretty hefty spring inside that will shoot out if you are not careful. Don't do it your self.

I'm trying to attach a Canon EOS Rebel XS to a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod, but the tripod socket on the camera is too small. How do I attach them?

You need a head. The tripod has a standardized screw for accepting a tripod head, which is a larger screw than for the tripod mount on the camera. There are a variety of heads available, ball heads, three-axis heads, geared heads, pan-and-tilt heads, and more.

Reassembling telescopic sections for a 676B monopod

Each leg lock has a leg locking lever and a screw that hold the clamp assembly tight to the leg. Unlock the leg lock lever, loosen the screw above it that holds the clamp tight to the leg. The legs should fit into each other sice each leg is slightly larger or smaller then then next one. Slide the clamps in the approprite places and tighten the screw enough to hold the clamp assembly tight, but do not over tighten it. Over tightening will damage the 679 tubes.
