Hello.

Here are the things you can try:

Make sure that the batteries are inserted properly, with the + and - in the correct positions. Also, make sure that the battery cover is secured tightly. Check the voltage of new batteries you installed and compare it with the old batteries. Try another set of new batteries.

If that doesn't solve your problem, please update me.

Use a card reader. Since your computer has a USB port, you can get a card reader that reads SDHC cards. This is exactly how I do it on my computer.

Computer won't turn on help!!!!

Unplug, remove the battery, plug in, try to turn on. If that fails, try another AC/DC cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Has the AC jack been damaged due to pulling on the cord? Damage due to Power surges? Do you leave it plugged in while not in use a lot?

Laptop battery light won't stay on

The battery might be dead. Batteries only have a useful life and after that they have to be replaced.

Does your laptop work ok off the AC Adapter Power Cord? If so, your battery is dead and your power cord is good. If the laptop does not work off the Power Cord then either your Power Cord is bad or the DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop is bad. In either case a good battery will not charge if the power cord or the DC Jack is bad.

Check your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the compute. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Can't turn on my Sylvania 7

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. I think your DC Power Jack is bad. The DC Power Jack is where the power cord plugs into the laptop. If it is bad, then a good power cord cannot charge the battery, nor can the laptop turn on once the battery is drained.

You say it smelled burnt, that might mean it took a power surge. I always tell people that before your plug the power cord into the electrical outlet on the wall to remove the other end of the cord from the laptop. That way if you get a power surge you will only damage the power cord and not the dc power jack or motherboard.

Anyway, take an ink pen and push it into the dc power jack and see if there is some movement. The little pin or the casing of the jack should not wiggle.

The DC Jack is soldered onto the motherboard. To replace it you will have to take the laptop apart, desolder the old dc jack and solder a new jack onto the board. Sometimes the DC Jack sits in a slot rather than being soldered. The palmrest and bottom case helps to keep it in place. This type of DC Jack usually has a cable harness that plugs into the motherboard.

I hadn't charged my Sony Vaio model PCG-61611L for a couple days. Then when I finally plugged it in to charge, it won't turn on. I even left it plugged in for a few days and still nothing. It has...

Try A Hard Reset

Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.

This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.

Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.

If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.
