How do i clean the burner on furnace

1. Kill the power and shut off the gas, the furnace should have its own valve. All furnaces are different but all burners are meant to be taken out for cleaning. If it is a mobile home furnace it may only have 1 large burner but most furnaces have 3 to 5 burners. If you have a straight, and phillips screwdriver and a 1/4" and 5/16" nut drivers you may have all the tools needed to remove them. Take the doo off and get us more details.

My Amana Furnace make a WOOF sound when it lights

Sounds like it needs cleaned. When the burners get dirty they don't light as they should and gas builds up to give you a mini explosion during start up. The burners should be removed and cleaned.

Depending on the age of the unit the gas pressures should be fine. The first thing I would do is to give the burners a thorough cleaning and make sure pilot is clean if so equipped. I would shut furnace off and remove the burners for easier and better cleaning. Use a wire brush to lightly clean openings on the burners, and gently tap inlet end of burners on soft wood block or thick cardboard pad to clean soot and rust from inside the burners. Also blow out with air if you can.
I always do one burner at a time and put them back in the order they were removed in. When you get everything back together and furnace lit then you can loosen retaing screws on air baffles if needed to get the best looking cleanest flame possible.Flames should be tight on the top of the burners with nice blue flame with sharparrow points with just a little yellow on the very tip.
I hope this helps you. Thank you

Burner lights. Flame pulls away from burner and sensor. Unit shuts off

The first thing I would do is check burners to make sure they are clean. Often if rust particles or carbonsoot come loose from inside of the heat exchanger they can partially clog burner opening which causes increase in gas pressure to fewer ports. This can make the flame roll out of burner compartment shutting off flame rollout switch. With burners off turn thermostat down so that furnace won't come on and inspect burners. If they are dirty you can use shop vac with crevice tool to clean most of them. If needed the burners can be removed for cleaning. Usually all you have to do is raise up on the back end of burner and slide it backwards to clear air shutter and burner orifices and then remove. Clean one at a time and put them back in the same position they were in.When they are all back in furnace reset flame rollout and check furnace.
If burners are not dirty then I would have service tech. check gas pressure and repair as needed. Hope this helps you. Thanks

I have a Miller 90+ furnace running on Propane gas. We I start the furnace, everything is working perfectly except I notice that the first burner out of the 4 burners does not light. I have checked the...

Hi, propane gas is really hard on a furnace in causing a burner or burners to carbon up. Yes, there is gas coming from this orifice, what you need to do is grasp the burner from the front, lift the rear out of the slot it sets in as you pull forward, and take the burner out. Turn it over and clean it out. It may be full off rust and some carbon. You can do this, as it may take care of the problem. We have taken on some furnaces, if your home is heating fine on the 3 burners, and remove the orifice and just plug it off. Doesn't hurt anything at all, I believe its a 1/8 or 1/4' pipe plug. I have done this many times when the temperature rise is to high on a new unit, and the only option is to shut down one burner. No harm or adjustments needed. Try cleaning the burner first and make sure the tail end sets back in its slot. If this works, great, if not, plug it off and your set. Will save on your gas bill also.

Furnace filter is black and sooty wall seem to be sooty

By sealed unit you mean that the burner air comes from outside of the house?      You have checked the heat exchanger for cracks by removing the burners and looking with a mirror and flashlight, correct, or had a service tech so?
The furnace burners have enough air and are burning clean (blue) with just a tip of orange at the end? You bought the house new and the fireplace has never been used?  If it has been used to clean smoke for the house for whatwever reason I woudl start by havign the ducts cleaned.   Another possibility I have seen is insolation inside of ductwork breaking down.

Gas burner doesn't work

Gas burners serve as the primary source of heat in a variety of home appliances: water heaters, gas dryers, and gas cooktops and ovens, and-of course-- furnaces and boilers. When the burner fails, most gas appliances are designed to stop working altogether to prevent a gas leak. As a rule, it's best to have gas burner problems fixed by your gas utility service person or a qualified heating technician, but there are a few steps you can take to avoid paying for a service call.
