Question about Car Speakers & Subwoofers

Conversations being received over the speakers with the radio off

I have a new 2008 Avalon and while driving I receive signals (conversations) over the cars speakers and the radio is off. I took it to the Dealer and they say they have never heard of this before. They futher stated that the wires are shielded so they cannot explain nor repair the problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

My 2008 cherokee radio does not receive radio stations double numbers like for instence 92. It's only broadcast 91 and so on... What is the solution. Thanks ihab.yousef@infofort.com

I believe the stock radios have a reset button. If I recall, its a very small hole that you'd insert a (plastic preferred) ball point pen or similar into and hold for a few seconds. I'd refer to the manual for the location but I'm pretty sure its marked on the face of the radio as well. Start there.

I have satelite radio system in my car it came with a remote.the name of the radio is a dualcd-rw x07500 cafrinae. you help me get the radio stations on there?

First, you attach the receiver to your car's dashboard using the included plastic stick-on holder. Next, you plug the power cord into your car's cigarette lighter to give the receiver its juice, and then you slip the attached cassette adapter into the audio cassette player of your car's stereo (this passes the satellite receiver's audio signal through to your car's speakers). Finally, you'll use a thin wire to attach a small antenna, about the size of a walnut, to your front or rear window--or for clearest reception, outside the car on its hood (though attaching it to the hood will require a professional installation for best results). Then just turn on your car's stereo, but use the attached receiver to cruise through satellite stations.

The benefit of this plug-and-play approach is that you can set up satellite radio in almost any car with little time and effort. The downside is that this approach adds a lot of ugly cable clutter to your car's interior. Also, even though the receiver is small, you have to take care to attach it to your dashboard without blocking an air vent so your car's air conditioning and heating is not affected. Finally, if your car has those nifty stereo controls built right into the steering wheel, you'll find that only the volume controls work with satellite radio--you won't be able to change stations with your thumbs.

If you want to keep your car's interior looking as spiffy as possible, you can buy a different kind of satellite receiver commonly known as a "head unit." These units, such as the XM Commander, replace your car's existing receiver, so they don't need a cigarette lighter's power or a cassette-tape adapter. They're a much more elegant option, but unless you're handy under the hood, you can count on spending at least $100 extra for installation fees. (If you're in the market for a new car, note that many 2004 and 2005 models include built-in satellite radio options.)

Hope that helps........

I have a clarion m 309 radio and I'm trying to hook up a fusion FM 402 amp for a sub woofer. I had all speakers playing but, I could not control the volume of the sub with the radio. I need to know...

Amps usually receive their signal through RCA wires. Your radio should have one pair of RCA outputs on the back. (red and white) You will adjust your subwoofer volume by adjusting the gains on the amplifer (little knob next to the RCA inputs of the amp), then you can turn up the bass on your radio.

I have a Jensen KS212 and I'm connecting it to a home theatre receiver direct to see if it works but nothing comes out of it. Does this mean the sub is not working or there's not enough power from...

Hi, welcome to FixYa..

Your subwoofer requires a seperate amplifier that has low pass filter in the pre out system, which means it will allow all low frequency signals from the input section of the amplifier/ crossover. Your receiver has combined signals of high, mid and midbass signals that will not be able to drive your subwoofer. That is the main reason why some receivers has "Subwoofer Out" to allow you to use "Active Subwoofer systems" (also known has self powered or has a built in amplifier w/ subwoofer)
For you to use your Subwoofer, it must have a seperate amplifier, connect it to Sub out of your receiver and from there you can hear the difference. Hope this helps.

Hello george_nutti,

The model number you posted is for a center channel speaker which has no controls, and not knowing the exact model number it's difficult to be specific.

Some Kenwood KDC models allow you to select one of 3 "tuning modes", 1) AUTO1 - Automatic search for stations; 2) AUTO2 - Search Preset stations; 3) MANUAL - Normal manual tuning control. If your Kenwood is one of these models, you need to set the tuning mode to MANUAL. For Kenwood Excelon HD receivers, direct access tuning is done by using the included remote. 1) Press DIRECT button on the remote; 2) Press number buttons to enter desired channel number; 3) Press DIRECT button again to exit direct tuning.

Hope this helps.

The radio in my 06 sentra turns on but no sound comes out of the speakers what could this be and how can it be fixed

Hello alenhidalgo,

Most likely the receiver amplifier section has failed. It's unlikely that all of the speakers or wiring would fail at the same time. A local car audio shop may be able to repair the receiver, but it's probably more cost effective to simply replace it with a good aftermarket product. Places like Best Buy also sell and install receivers for practically any vehicle. Or if you wish to tackle putting one in yourself, www.crutchfield.com has entry-level receivers for under $100.

Hope this helps.

All i can really suggest is let GM check it out if they want to replace it, i would look into replacing it with a upgraded after market unit to fit in its spot. probably cheaper than dealer will charge.
