Attachment Pole will not stay in down position and loses suction.

There is a wand catch that holds the attachment pole to the unit. It's above the power switch. It easily comes off and Sears has it for a pretty cheap price like $3. Without this wand catch the handle attachment pole does not stay put. Good Luck

Dc25 has a very stiff hose. how do i loosen

Hi Peter, it's Jack at Dyson.

It's normal to experience a certain amount of resistance from DC25's hose due to the vacuum's very powerful suction. However this shouldn't feel excessive, and we would expect the hose to relax after a period of use. You can expedite this by stretching the hose out to it's fullest extent a few times.

It's worth keeping in mind that to make the hose easier to use when cleaning in confined spaces, you can remove the wand and attach the tools directly to the hose cuff:

I am borrowing a sewing machine Genie 354 and can not see how to reverse. Please advise?

The reverse stitch is connected to the stitch length function. Reverse stitching usually takes place after adjusting past the smallest possible forward stitch. At no time does the machine motor ever run in a reverse direction. Look for an adjusting lever that controls stitch length.

The brush won't rotate and the belt on the side access panel is running. I borrowed this machine from a friend and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Make sure the unit is not on bare floor or the brush is not disengaged. If not, try to move the settings for the brush switch to see if it engages the clutch. The next thing to inspect is the linkage from the brush switch to the clutch which could just need to be adjusted by straitening the shaft. If none of the above works I would suspect the clutch if the mechanics look ok.

Hi! I am borrowing this cleaner from a friend,

No, it just might need a new pump belt. When the belt is worn it won't dispense water or solution. Here is the belt you need:

A friend just gave me a Bissell carpet cleaning machine - but I need instructions on how to use it. My friend could not find the manual. It's model 1640-5. Can you help?

You can download user manuals from the Bissell website. However, if you look through the problems posted on this Fixya site under vacuums, you will see more relating to Bissell than just about any other make (with the possible exception of Dyson). You may then begin to wonder if your friend has really done you a favour...

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are a couple of things that you can check to see if it works properly. 1st replace the belt with a new Kirby Genuine belt, the average belt change is every 4 to 6 months, make sure the brushroll spins freely and when you install the brushroll make sure the screw heads are facing the carpet on both sides. B4 you start make sure the bell housing is locked down tight and when you plug it in raise the height adjustment to the highest level then drop it down one step @ a time until you hear the tone change or the brushroll should hit the carpet and @ that point vacuum to see if that is the correct adjustment if not drop it down one more setting. Also replace the paper bag with a fresh one and check to see if the outer bag is dirty and might need cleaning on the inside of the bag and not the outside. If you have further problems please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or call the Kirby cust serv dept listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How much soap and how much water do I put in the Bissell pro heat?

You are supposed to buy the Bissell soap. On the bottle depending which cleaner you need. The directions are on the bottle. Please do not use house hold cleaners because you can cause serious damage to the vacuum.
Go here, this pg. shows the 7901-1 click the user guide pdf & print the instruction if you choose:

NoSuckage !!!

Either the lid for the dirty water tank is not completely on or the filter inside has been pushed up all of the way to the top. You need to have a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter.
