SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

How to unlock a photo in camara

The protect function allows a user to protect a picture from accidental deletion. To unprotect a picture on your camera, scroll to the protected picture that you want to delete, then press the Menu button (the button to the right of the Play button.) Scroll down the menu and you should come to an option that allows you to Protect/Unprotect the picture. Since your picture is currently protected, deselect that option. You should then be able to delete the picture normally.

Alternatively, you could also format the memory card, however this deletes ALL photos and data you have on the memory card. If you are trying to completely clear the memory, this is the best way. After turning on your camera, simply press the Menu button, scroll to Setup, then scroll down to Format. Select Format, it will ask you if you want to format the memory card, or the camera's built-in memory. Format whichever one you want to clear, if you are using a memory card then your pictures are stored on the memory card. It will take a few seconds to format.

Hope this helps.

How do i turn off "File Protect" and be able to delete again. It won't let me delete pictures and there is a little animated figure on the print that says digital camera out to the side with...

Hi,

You have accidentally selected lock option. You need to select unlock option for the same. Press the menu button and then press right/left button to select the protect menu. Then you need to select unlock and that would turn off file protect.

Kindly accept the solution so that i could get the credit for my time.

Thanks and Regards

When pressing the shutter button it does not take the picture and shows a blue screen saying "card protected". Is the memory card defective?

Remove the Card and while looking it card with metal contacts facing away and up there is a little white button on top left of card that Button slides up and down up for protected mode down for unprotected slide the button down then reinsert card and try taking another picture.

Thumbs Up if helpful, feedback is appreciated.
Good Luck!!!

The card protect appears and i can't take pictures?

Hello there,

Just turn off the camera and take out the memory card. There should be a small tab on the upper left side.. Just adjust that tab to unprotect it then put it back to the camera and start taking pictures.

Hope this helps. Thank you for using FIxYA.

How to take a picture with the card protection on?

You can't. The whole point of protecting the card is to prevent any writing to it, in order to preserve whatever's already on it. If you want to take pictures, you need to unprotect the card.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Protected feature

There are 2 probable solutions. 1. The images are "protected" by the camera & will show "locked" when you try to erase them. 2. The SD card in the camera is locked. The solution to 1 is to unlock the images in the playback menu. See page 46 of the manual. Note that you need to select "unlock" you can't select protect as they are already protected! Solution 2 is to remove the card from the camera & check the "lock" slider that you can see on the side (although no all cards have this). Set the lock off. You can download the manual from the first link on the following page: http://www.vivitar.com/manuals/english/ViviCam6300/CameraManual.pdf Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!
