SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 8600 now missing the battery meter

Click here and click the link to download all on the upper right hand side of the page. Instruction are embedded in the page and the download themselves for each individual download, including what they do and so on...... Unzip and installation of all these is highly recommended to restore your system back to factory functionality......i assure you that the battery meter shortcut is not the only function missing from your just haven't found the rest yet, and may never need them for that matter, but still i do recommend installing all the downloads that are available for your device, and don't worry, if there is anything that needs to be overwritten during installation, let if'll be just fine..... so there ya go, sry i cant walk you through the whole process but there wouldn't be enough room for me to spell it all out on here.

Lost power during bios update

This is a state your BIOS corrupted. Re-installation may not be successful. Need to re-program the chip with original BIOS.This process is technical and need expertise in that. I really don't know a BIOS reset will work for you. There is some steps you can try
Remove laptop battery and power cord. Press and hold the power button for 2-3 minutes. Put back battery and plug in power cord and start.
Remove the CMOS battery and all power in sources(laptop battery& AC adapter) and short the two terminals in the CMOS battery holder with a screw driver or similar thing. Then put back everything and press power button. I am not sure that these steps will bring your system into a working state.
try these steps before going to a re-programming
Hope this helps

Forgot pasword with into bios to try changing it and know I am completly lock out of my laptop

how to remove Bios password
the easiest way of removing that password is removing the watch battery inside the computer.
remove the computer battery and charger
go ahead and remove the covers from the bottom of the laptop.
you should be able to see a tiny battery hidden somewhere underneat those covers.
go ahead and remove it, wait for about 20 seconds and re insert it I recomend most people to go ahead and get a new battery at this moment (now that is open) and replace it.
after that go ahead and place covers back, battery and turn computer on you are going to have to set the time and date again on the BIoS and windows.
that takes care of the BIoS password.

if it works for you don forget to rate me

Inspiron 8600 does not charge batteries. Power

As you have mentioned that power supply is working fine then there can be only two things.

  1. Your charging module in the mother board is malfunctioning. And you cannot replace a particular module, you have to replace whole motherboard for it.If your system is under warranty Dell will do it for free.
  2. The connector which connects the battery with the mother board is gone.
hope this will solve your problem

Thank you.

Is there a problem with the battery? insperion 8600

"The battery is nearing the end of it's useful life and will need to be replaced soon." is the official definition of that battery indication.

If you boot to the system BIOS (F2 at boot, and arrow down to battery, it will tell you such.

My computer is locked in the BIOS Setting

I assume you have already tried the Dell site & searched (using eg google) for 'Inspiron 8600 BIOS reset' so I'll not bother repeating your efforts.

Since you posted here, I can only assume you have been unable to find any information about special power-on key combinations or any small holes underneath (where a paperclip can be used to reset the BIOS) ... in which case your only option is to dismantle the laptop, locate the BIOS battery and remove it for 30 seconds or so.

To find out how to dismantle the laptop, search (google) for 'Inspiron 8600 BIOS Battery replacement' ....

It has no video after installing the card

When you see the blue dell logo, Press F2 to get into the BIOS settings.

When in the BIOS Settings. Enable PCI Express instead of PCI express.

Make sure the videocard is seated all the way in the slot as well.
