SOURCE: SONY STR-DE125 READS PROTECTED

protection is designed to protect the output transistors from, shorted speaker wires, shorted speakers, too low speaker impediance, make sure the amp is well ventilated.
turn the amp off for 1 to 2 hours to allow thermal reset if this fails most likley some internal damage has occured and the unit will need to be serviced

SOURCE: soon as i turn power on my sony receiver goes

Resetting probably won't fix it, Sounds like it needs output transistors and some resistors and/or fuses

SOURCE: won't go off protect mode

When the speaker wires shorted to each other, the output transistors for that channel probably shorted as well. This means that the receiver needs repair. The typical parts cost for this usually runs between $20-$40.

SOURCE: Sony STRDH800 emits a loud

Check the source of humming noise. Disconnect the input cables of source one by one. A faulty source should be found. It may be the source or the cable connecting from source to receiver. If a faulty cable, replace it & if it is source, repair it. Also try connecting a separate earthing for the receiver. A separate earthing stud is normally provided in receiver for separate earthing. If none of these solution work then you will have to look inside the receiver for loose earthing from various PCB's especially preamplifier.

No audio sound, Reciver going to protection mode

If you bought the extended warranty, you need to go where you purchased it and they can look it up on their computer system. If it's out of warranty, the repair cost is debatable. Between 125-175 average. 50% of the cost.

Reciver goes into protect mode as soon as I turn it on.

Remove speaker wires and try again. If it still goes into protect mode, the problem is internal...shorted power transistors or some other fault. Check fuses also.

My denon avr1200 receiver once it is turned on goes into Protection mode. How do you reset or make work?

The reciever will go into protection mode when there is a short in the speaker wires or the amplifier was overloaded. What I would do first is verify that none of the speaker wire connections are loose at the back of the reciever or at each speaker. And verify that none of the wires are making contact with each other. Then label each speaker wire as you remove them from the reciever so you can re-install them correctly. After you have disconnected the speaker wires try unplugging the reciever for 10 to 15 minutes. Most recievers have a self-resetting overload protection switch and this should reset it back to normal. Now try plugging the reciever back in and turn it on without the speaker wires connected. It should be out of protection mode now. If it is still in protection mode verify that there is not a reset switch somewhere on the back of the reciever. If it is not in protection mode now then proceed to connect one speaker set at a time and turn on the reciever to see if it goes into protection mode. If it goes into that mode after connecting a speaker then that speaker is the cause of the problem. If it does not go into the mode after all speakers are connected then try turning the volume up. If it goes into protection mode then there could be an internal short on the amplifier or a incorrect OHM rated speakers connected to reciever. Verify that the speakers are rated the correct OHMS.

Is in protect mode

I don't have and I'm not familiar with this particular receiver model, but common sense tells me that your receiver is trying to alert you to the fact that you may have shorted speaker wires, and it has gone into protect mode, to prevent itself from blowing up.
Please check your wires at the back, or best yet, if your receiver has a test mode on the remote control, use it. It tests your speaker connections for shorts, for wrong polarity, etc. If this receiver has surround sound, and all speakers are connected, it goes round and round creating some white noise from all speakers as it goes, until you press the Test button again.
Should one or more be connected improperly, or the wires be shorted, it will display a message telling you so.
Good luck!

Amp in power protect

Protection Circuit is bad. It needs to be serviced. If all speaker wires are disconnected and it's still in protection, it's got a problem. Hope this helps

My amp turns on and off

Sounds like there could be a short somewhere. Check to make sure that there aren't any (exposed/bare) wires touching each other or if there is a bare spot of wire touching something metal. Check both ends of all the wires. A speaker wire may have come lose and is shorting out against the frame or some other place. Usually if it goes straight into protection mode or you're popping fuses you have a short somewhere. I assume the capacitor you installed is somewhere on the power line, which would be for helping with
noise. You can also try disconnecting your amp from your stereo and see what happens but leave the speakers connected, you don't want to run the amp with out a load on it (the speakers). If your amp doesn't go into protection mode when the stereo is disconnected, then you have a problem with the stereo and not the amp, assuming you already checked for any possible shorts first.

Turns it self off with a sparking noise in the speakers

The unit has a built in protection mode if a fault occurs in the speaker wiring. If its in protection mode the power button light will flash and display goes blank. Try disconnecting all speakers and see if it stays on, if so it could be a shorted speaker wire or bad speaker.
