Cricut design studio is no longer supported by Cricut but if you mean Cricut Design Space then this is how you do it. Open and sign in to Design Space select insert images and in the box on the right select my Image sets and then type in Artbooking. Artbooking cartridge will then come up for you to select what you want. all images come onto the mat at 2.5 inches they havent fixed this yet so you have to resize your images. If you want to download the image numbers from the artbooking book which go with design space go to http://thenon-craftycrafter.blogspot.co.nz/p/image-codes.html and download the artbooking book from this lady please join her blog and leave her a message as she does a lot of work all of which she does for free. Also if you youtube cricut design space. or go onto design space in cricut.com
You say you have a Cricut expression 2 but you say quote"...of how to reset the machine including the rolling of the dials up and down three times!" The problem I have in sorting your problem is that the Cricut expression 2 does not have wheels which work the speed, pressure and size. If you have an expression version 1 machine then there would be 3 wheels on it to adjust the speed pressure and size. Obviously if you have had the machine for 4 years it is out of warranty and I am not sure just what the person did to "fix" your problem. I do recollect a video on you tube with a similar problem however looking at the video he mentions that once it is fixed the blade housing should bounce up if you push it down, does your housing now do the same as the video. In the video Evan did he mentions at the end that the soldering of these wires may not take the first time so this may be a point to check as he mentions that it was travelling the machine that caused the wires to break in the first place. The youtube.com video I am speaking of is http://youtu.be/n7LJnfPdd08,by Evan Craftman. I am assuming that when you called cricut support you called the UK support line. I often speak with support in the USA being from New Zealand it is an overseas call however I have found them very good. If you are able to I would like to see a video of just what your machine is doing. If you dont want to post it here you could email me firstname.lastname@example.org.
I do feel very sad that you don't wish to try the Explore as I find it a surpurb machine. I have had my Expression version 1 since early 2009, I have added every Cricut to my family of cricuts and own 3 expression 2's and now an explore. If you had bought a computer 4 years ago and you currently took it to a repair person to get it fixed I am sure their first response would be it would be better to get a new one. Your computer boards appear to be fine maybe you need to take the video to the person who did your fixing as most people who do this sort of work would not understand how the machine runs. I hope this helps and you can get your Cricut working again. If all else fails you may be able to buy a 2nd hand one cheep and have your repair person change the carriages completly.
Yes, I was just going to recommend contacting them. I see you have contacted them already. Good luck with getting it fixed~they are prompt in helping with machines. If you have any further questions about the cricut feel free to ask.
I was reading lots of forums and tech support pages on how to get my Cricut back online. I went to the store and got the Deep Cutting Blade & Housing and I got two replacement blades for the original housing that came with the Cricut. I also bought a pack of new mats. I replaced the original blade with a new one, used a new mat, and tweaked the depth and speed of my cuts and my little Cricut is whirling again!
Make sure your cricut is off when you plug it
into your computer via usb.
Make sure your usb cable is
plugged directly into the machine, and not to a usb hub.
up the DS Once the DS is
fully loaded, choose HELP > UPDATE FIRMWARE.
cricut machine, hold down the STOP button. Keep holding it down and
briefly hold down the power button. Keep holding down the stop button
and in about 3-5 seconds, you will hear a beep. That means you are good
"update firmware" screen on your computer, select the model you have and
then click "begin updating now"
Go and read a magazine or
make a cup of tea because it takes a while to update. If it goes really
fast (no matter how cool your computer is) it means it did not install
properly and you will probably have to do it over again.
You may want to try resetting your Cricut to see if that fixes the problem. To reset the Cricut machine, turn the unit off for five minutes. Roll all the dials all the way up and all the way down five times each. Turn the Cricut back on. This is the manufacturer's reset process. Good luck!
