The clicking sound is a relay called PTC relay. You need to replace it. First be sure to unplug frig. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the frig units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken

Compressor starts, then stops

Hi, this problem will be with either the starter for the compressor or could actually be the compresser itself. Both of these can be replaced but it is not something any one should do unless they have done this before and know what they are doing.

Freezer compartment no longer cools. Continuous defrost cycle?

Good day,
Sounds more like the compressor trying to start and can't.
Pull the machine out, remove the rear cover and see if in fact the sound is coming from the compressor.

Buzzing noise lasting 5-10 sec, occurs every 4 min. Seems to be coming from relay attached to freon tub

Hi, That would be the relay/overload you hear. The "buzzing" is the start device of the compressor, and the "clicking" is the overload/cut-out protector. It may just be a faulty relay/ start device, or it may be effect of a locked rotor in the compressor. You can try to replace the start device and see if that yields any remedy, ( I recommend and use the RCO410 also known as a HS410 3 in1 hard start kit) if it doesn't start it...call a tech, it may need a compressor and some units have a five-ten year warranty on the compressor, check your owners manual under "warranties". Hopefully that's a start for you. Good luck

Compressor is not working

your compressor is short cycling, you need to go to your local appliance parts store and get a 3in1 starter kit,it is easy to install directions are on it,that should do the trick, they cost about $10-mike

A buzzing noise comes on every 2 mins for about 45 seconds

2 things, eithere the ice maker is "calling for water" and your not hiiked to a water supply. in which case simply turn of ice maker till you restore water to the machine.
ohter noise sounds if perhaps the compressor is not cycling correctly, overheating, nad when tries to restart you hear it try for 10 secs or so, then click off. in which case youll seee the freezer stating to lose "cool" especially "wet ice" and/or soft ice cream products.. if this is the case you can try to clean the coils under/behind the refrig, and may need to replace the starting device mounted to the side of the compressor

Side by side stopped working but clicling noises every second two.

Read, this model posted has a main board in back that controls the refer. Your problem sounds like the overload and relay on the compressor but you need to do a test to verify. On the main board in back there is a blue harness, 3 pronged, that is marked line, defr and comp. Lower left hand corner. You need to get a jumper wire with alligator clips and with the plug out, jump line to comp. Now plug it back in, this will send 120V directly to the compressor. See if it starts. If not and it does it clicking thing, chances are it's the overload and relay, or the compressor itself. You have five years warranty on the compresser. If it starts, it's the board it's the board giving you the problem. This of course is for the GSH model posted...Catriver..post back.
