How do I replace the light bulb on a Viking Emma sewing machine?

In trying to replace the light bulb, there doesn't seem to be any way to get at it - no cover to unscrew. The bulb is located above the needle.

I was able to gain entrance into the area by taking out 1 screw (star head), slightly pulling on the plastic compartment to cause a small opening. I then tilted the machine and the needle fell out. The screw is located on the rear of the sewing machine, right behind the bobbin compartment. A flat head screw is also needed to "Pry" open the plastic.

SOURCE: Sewing thick fabric and machine won't send it through

Sergers are not really meant to sew very thick material. The blades have a maximum amount of range, or thickness that they can reach to cut. If you go outside that range, get ready for a big repair bill! You can break loopers and even the needle plate when you "push" a serger. My advise would be to use you sewing machine for the, "pounding" work. The type of material matters too, A thick Quilt like fabric can be sewn becatuse it's not dense material. A thinner harder denim could max out at 3 layers because of it"s hard finish. If the fabric you're sewing isn't dense like, you could just need new knives.

Manual for a husqvarna viking victoria sewing machine

I do not see this manual available for a free download. You can try at a local Viking dealer; they will be able to order it or may have it in stock. Otherwise, this site has it http://www.sewingworld.co.uk/Husqvarna_Viking_Instruction_Books_And_Manuals.html (Scroll down; the Victoria manual is listed between the Emma and Platinum 770 manuals).

I hope this helps.

(I know that a local Bernina dealer got us the manual to an older Serger (obtained used) for minimal cost when we provided the model and serial number.)

I have a Singer Sewing Machine #9444. There is no electrical getting to my machine since the light doesn't work and the foot pedal doesn't work after I turn on the machine

Try replacing the light bulb or rerouting the wire so it won't be affected by the light bulb or the foot pedle. Becarefull though because if you rerout the the wireing in the foot pedle you're taking away the off/on swich so it'll stay on. You may want to open up the foot pedle and see if there is anything loose, not conected or broken. The pedal is used as an on/off swich so it may just be stuck in the off position and not making contact when you press down on it so it won't turn on.
If you can't fined a blulb for it by the way you can disconect the socket where you screw it in and install a new one. Make sure the new one will fit in the same hole though. Then it should be easy finding a bulb for it. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE MACHINE IS DISCONECTED BEFOR YOU DO ANY OF THESE THINGS. Good luck!

I have a Viking 6440 (36 years old), and the original light bulb has burned out. I can't get the bulb out! Any suggestions?

Hi anon3...
Spray a little wd-40 on the socket and tap the outside of the socket...wait about a half an hour and try to unscrew it...if that does not work keep screwing the bulb out until you twist the bulb out of the socket...then take a pair of need nose pliers and grab the edge of the bulb and twist it toward the center do the a few times around the outside of the bulb
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

Need to know the light bulb number for a Fressia 415

For the Husqvarna Viking Freesia 415 sewing machine you need the small, push-in type. Here's the specifics:

Light Bulb, 12V 5W #979603-001

Here's a link to a site that has a pic of bulb and also sells them:
