choose Full Driver & Software Package for windows 8.1 64 or 32 bit

The driver for the MFC7840W is not compatible with the MFC7820N. According to Brother, the correct driver for MFC7820N is available at

Most likely need to replace the drum

Brother has the drivers and full software for supported OS versions for most of their printers on their web site. (Note: however, no third-party software that was on the original CD is available.) Start at: http://www.brother-usa.com/downloads/#.T49a0dm3NG9 and select Multi-Function Center and then the model number in the drop-down menus.

Unfortunately, I do not know the MFC 780 model. There is the MFC7820N and the MFC7840W (and others). Please check your model number and add a comment if this is the correct model number (or updating to the correct model).

uninstall the printer and software.
download teh latest drivers form brother and reinstall printer using networking.
