The beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off. WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules make sure that your RAM modules and Cmos battery are securely seated on some motherboards Cmos batteries are soldered in Test all power and data leads that attach from motherboard to your hard drive IDE SATA make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty If its a flat 40 pin ide it will be the first to fail. Check the graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust reinstall it Restart your computer the found new hardware wizard should activate a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and to its continue its cycle and to have and end to function Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd and floppy drive have secure make sure the connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty Computers need all Power and Data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work properly so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error also check the keyboard for secure dust free connection ps2 and or usb Hope this helps.

Acer computer won't boot has long buzzing noise

The long buzzing sound indicate the nature of the problem. Depending on the manufacture of your bios will determine the problem. With only one long beep you may have memory problem. The computer cannot initiate the boot sequence. Did you add any devices to the computer prior to your problem. if you did undo what you did. Make sure the computer is on, if nothing happens ( no lights, no sound, no fans etc.) the computer has a power failure. Make sure you listen to the beep if it is a numerous beep sequence note it down and check the web for computer beep during boot up.

When I boot up the computer, the monitor shows lines and then fades to completely white.

either wrong display size setting for the monitor. or the connections are not connected properly.

your computer will either make a beep noise or a clunk noise. if it does that then its not the monitor

Computer dead and beeping

If it beeps and not boot then it is the post routine telling you there is a problem. The post routine is run when you turn the power on to ensure the computer hardware is ok to run. The manufacturer of the bios routine can tell what is wrong by the type, number and duration of the beeps. Look up the code meanings and it will indicate the problem. If this sounds like nonsense to you then give the make and model of your machine and what the beeps sound like. ( beep beep beep delay beep beep beep) etc. and I'll look it up for you.

Aopen ax34 tamper alarm--how to reset????

I don't think that board actually has a tamper alarm in the bios, password security yes but I saw no mention of a tamper alarm. Besides, a tamper alarm won't stop the pc from booting, it just lets you know that the case has been opened....sorry. I think you likely have a mainboard/ram issue.

First thing is to clear the bios. Here's how. Right beside the floppy connector, there is a jumper labeled 'JP14'. Please do the following

  1. Turn off the pc and remove the ac power cord.
  2. Remove the atx power connector from the mainboard (from power supply).
  3. Locate jp14 and move the jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pins 2 and 3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Put jp14 back to pins 1 and 2
  5. Reconnect the atx power connector.
Or you can just unplug it from the waal and remove the bios battery for an hour.
sa code
Try to fire it up again. If it still won't boot, then let me know the number of beeps it makes and the pattern to the beeps ie: one long beep then another long beep or 1 long beep then 2 short ones. These beep are actually telling you what the problem is.

Hope this helps! Post a comment and let me know how you make out.

Laptop amkes a beep sound but doesn't boot

Hi Saniple, more than likely those are beep codes and should give us an idea of what is going on. Typically there is a specific pattern of long and short beeps. If you can identify them for us we can start the troubleshooting process

Fixed Disk Parameter Error - System Halted

Sounds like bad disk, although 3 beeps sometimes relates to a memory problem on some motherboard bios's. Click Start>run then type'chkdsk' and then Enter, this will run a damage segment diagnosis and repair, if capable.
