I went to msconfig looked and had no idea what should or shoul not be disable was not much their. thanks any way. now for second issue still need to know how to share folders or files between my desktop and notebook via sharing. Is that networking? The sharing icon is still showing on my desktop however no sharing of these file are being shared. I am sure it was done by networking but I am not good at setting up and did not write down steps done by dell I think.

In misconfig if you see any part of the file name disable it.

If you disable the wrong one you can always go back and enable it but can you tell me exactly what it is coming on startup.

As for your file sharing are you saying you have already set it up but the files are not sharing..

I am not in front of your pc but I will try and help.

I would have both pc's on although I don't think it matters.

Right click on the folder you want to share you can either hit nsharing and security or you can click on properties and click sharing. From there you should be able to set up sharing.

Then go to your second pc and click on my computer and on the side should be a spot that says

my network places. The shared folders should show.

Let me know how it works out.But this is how I done it so hopefully your good.

Okay when you open the my computer page and then click on

my network places on left side bar are you telling me you get nothing.

If so you need to check your files you want to share and make sure they are not marked private to do this just right click and hit properties on the files your trying to share.

Teamviewer would be okay but I don't have much experience with it

Then I believe you are doing it right but you need to go on your main pc right click the file you want to share and then set it up for sharing just follow instructions

if there is a check in private remove it

then go back to your other pc click on my computer and then my network places hopefully this works.sometimes it does need a restart

You are getting some shared files so are you are doing something right

My pc suddenly can't download any files from internet. Anyone know how to solve this issues?

Try to re boot. Have you done a malware scan, if not reboot in safe mode with networking, try to download MALWAREBYTES AT: Run a FULL SCAN and delete any results. Are you sure you are connected to the outside world? When you open "Network and Sharing Center" and verify your connection,if you haven't already.

My laptop no longer recognizes the printer connected to my desktop or the shared files from the desktop. I recently installed Norton Internet that what caused the problem? If so, can I fix...

there is a possibility that norton firewall is blocking it. You can go to firewall settings from your norton antivirus and allow network sharing or turn off norton firewall, You can still use your windows firewall just to make sure you are protected

Is it possible to connect my ASUS X58C laptop to a Win98SE pc

Connect the two computers using the Ethernet crossover cable.
On the computer running Windows Vista, from the Start menu, click Control Panel. Then, double-click Network and Sharing Center. Note: If this doesn't match what you see, switch yorur control panel to classic view..
At the top of the main portion of the Network and Sharing Center window, double-click the Unidentified Network icon.

If network discovery and file sharing are disabled, the following message will appear:
"Network discovery and file sharing are turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible. Click to change..."

Click the message to enable network discovery and file sharing; you may be prompted for an administrator username and/or password.

In the dialog box that opens, select No, make the network that I am connected to a private network. This allows you to initiate file sharing on the two computers without affecting the settings for any other networks.

Icons for both computers should now be visible in the Network window. Double-click a computer icon to share printers and other resources.

My Advent 4211 netbook connects wirelessly to the Internet through my Desktop and a Belkin router. How do I allow the netbook to see the files in the desktop?

if you ran your network wizard to get the internet access shared then you should be able to share your files too.
and folders the same way ,

go to my network device,
veiw network computers,
if you can see the computers desk top then
go to Shared folders and try to see if your folders have been shared open something.

If you can see the desktop and not open the shared folders then run the network wizard again, shutdown and restart,to save your settings,
to share files between both machines you will need to drag the file into my shared folders or rightclick on the file your sharing and click on sharing, follow the prompts to share and that should fix your problem.

Msi notebook wirelss is not working

I suggest you treat your problem as two separate issues. The first is configuring a Local Area Network (LAN) with file sharing. The second is configuring the wireless communication links.

If possible, set up a "wired" LAN that performs as desired before trying to integrate the wireless links into your LAN. Hopefully you could do this with the desktop computer, one or both of the notebooks, and the wireless router. Does the wireless router have four hard wired LAN ports that function as a switch?

While they don't address the wireless component of your problem, The following Microsoft documents (downloads) are excellent resources for understanding and troubleshooting Windows XP file and printer sharing:
File and Printer Sharing with Microsoft Windows
Troubleshooting File and Printer Sharing in Microsoft Windows XP

There's quite a bit of redundant information, so you may want to start with the second document.

Basically, I'm not a fan of "wizards". When they work, you're very happy. When they don't work, you're very unhappy (and don't have a clue how to proceed). Setup the file sharing manually. The documents above essentially provide a tutorial to do that.

When you cannot see all of the server computers on the network in My Network Places or Network Neighborhood, the solution depends on whether you have successful network connectivity.

To check whether you have basic network connectivity from the browse client to the missing server computer, do the following:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In Open, type \\ComputerName (in which ComputerName is the name of the missing server computer), and then press ENTER.

If you get a window that displays the shared resources of the missing server computer, then you have basic network connectivity to the missing server computer. If you get an error message stating that the network path was not found, then there is a problem with basic network connectivity to the missing server computer.

If you have successful network connectivity to the missing server computer but you do not see it in the workgroup window, then it could be due to one of the following:

o The missing computers are configured with different workgroup name
o The browse servers do not yet have all the computers in their browse lists
o The missing computers are not on the same physical network segment

Good luck!

File sharing between computers

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help. Try the following:

On your laptop with Vista, click start, then network from the right side. This will take you to the Network Screen. Click on the Network and sharing screen. Click on options such as file sharing, printer sharing etc. Make sure that you can see each device your your network. If you can't you must go to each PC and use the network options on the XP machines. It's pretty simple, just follow the instructions that the wizard provides.

I hope this gets you up and running. Thanks for using

Connection HP laptop to Playstation 3

first things first, you have to allow sharing on your laptop. to accomplish this, go to control panel, open "network and sharing center". make sure the following are on -> network discovery, file sharing, public folder sharing, media sharing. Also make sure password protected is off. now the stuff you would like to accses on your PS3, go to the main folder of where everything is located, right click the folder, select share, it will bring you to a screen whit a drop down box by deafault has the name of the User Account. change that to "everyone" the select add. click next.
Now you have to do something else for media player.
make sure ps3 is on

Open WMP. select tools->options->library->configure sharing-> check off share my media-> click ok, and that should do it

File Sharing with Home Network...only one pc talking

The message for an unplugged network cable, means you have enabled wired network, but the cable isn't there. No problem if you are connected wireless.
To be able to access files on computers over your network, you need to enable filesharing for the desired directories or disks.
Right-click the directory or disk, go to sharing and set the correct settings. Maybe you have to allow for network sharing the first time.
