Question about IBM ThinkPad 570 Notebook
The screen is white - does not load an OS - this is a left over computer from a renter and we'd like to get it running just for internet
I think you have more problems than a factory restore. If the screen is white. But this may help: http://john.ccac.rwth-aachen.de:8000/ftp/mirrors/ps2supersite.homedns.org/pccbbs/mobiles/570usref.pdf ORhttp://www.ehow.com/how_4924378_restore-ibm-computers-factory-settings.html

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: IBM thinkpad T22 problem
This solution is for s-k-i-t: you will have to get a copy of the win xp install disk to fix this problem (you can borrow one as long as you have a COA on your laptop) but first get into the BIOS by pressing F1 right after you turn it on - you'll see the prompt in lower left corner. Then go to startup>boot>hard drive>Enter. This will show you the type of hard drive. If it is a IBM or Hitachi less than 60 gig chances are it is failing and this is why the hives (where XP stores its memory states) are corrupt. You can download the "Ultimate boot disk" and make a CD that will let you run hard drive test tools. If the hard drive is bad I would try to get the eBay seller to make good - depends on how long you've had it.

Turn your unit off.
then turn it back on.
Watch the display carefully, Press the Blue Access IBM button when you see the message
"To interrupt normal start up, press the blue Access IBM button"
Then double click on "Recover to factory contents"
Follow the instructions on the screen.
When the Recovery process finishes, press enter.
Your computer will start with the pre-installed OS, Drivers and software.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
