In a standard set the power supply produces one large voltage and a few smaller ones---if the High voltage circuit comes up it creates the rest---this answer is based on the description that this is a set with a picture tube and not a LCD set.

Please un-plug the cable between the main board & the power supply board, apply AC power to the TV, if the back light come on, that means the back lights & the power supply are OK, then you need to replace the main board; if the back lights does not light up, mostly the back light LED strip(s) is bad.

Check the power supply output, if it is ok then I would try the main board, but if you are guessing you can still spend more and get no working TV

NO POWER AT ALL

Hi
our tv set need to be serviced. Here are some tips:
1. Open main fuse. The fuse is clean but interrupted. You can try replacing it with one o the same value.
2. Fuse Blown or blackened. Short in the rectifier bridge or in the switching transistor. Out of the power supply: supply line rectifier (100/150V) shorted.

Sony kdl-52s 4100 power supply ok but no sound and display

Well, if the power supply is in good working order, you will need to verify that the proper voltages are getting to the main board. If the main board is getting the proper voltages, I would bet you have a defective main board. The video and audio signals are generated on the main board. Expect to pay $100-$150 for a replacement main board.

I have the red power light, but when i turn it on, it completely shuts off, red light and all. Then i have to unplug it from the back to get the red light back

Hello,

Either power supply problem or blown surface mount fuse on the main board. First check all SMD fuses on the main board, and the fuse on the power supply board. If the power supply board fuse has blown replace it and try again, if it blows again you need to replace the power supply. If the power supply seems OK check all SMD fuses on the main board. There are 7 on the V3 and about a dozen on the V4 / V5 / V6.
NOTE.... you have to open the console to do this ...

I hope this help in solving the problem.....

Lighting came into my computer via the ethernet cable. can this be fixed I also think it took out my power supply un it. It is a gateway 500c.

If only power supply's affected, then change the SMPS with a compatible one of the same rating. But first check the monitor by connecting to the mains power supply with the video chord not attached to anything. if the monitor displays "no videos" signal, then the monitor is OK cange the SMPS of the CPU and check UPS & spike boards fuses, otherwise commect to main power supply pluf(Wall 3-pin outlet socket)......sodeep
