The T30's don't have a physical switch for wireless. If wireless connections do not show available in Windows, its possible that the Wireless card is disabled in the Bios, the driver needs to be re-installed or it may be disabled in Device Manager. If you can provide some more specifics, I'm sure we can fix the issue.

I'm going to list some steps for Windows 7, if you have a different version of Windows just let me know. 1. Right click on the 'Computer' icon on the desktop 2. Select 'Properties' 3. Select 'Device Manager' in the upper left 4. Double click on 'Network Adaptors' 5. Make note of the Wireless Card's full name and then Right Click on the Wireless Card and select 'Uninstall' 6. When the Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box comes up, do NOT check the box. 7. Click the 'OK' button 8. Select the 'Action' drop down menu 9. Select 'Scan for Hardware Changes' This will re-install the Wireless Card driver. After that you should be able to click on the Start button, go to Control Panel, select Network and Sharing Center and then Connect to a Network. The Wizard should walk you through connecting to your local wireless network. If you do not show a Wireless Card in Device Manager, let me know and we'll go from there.

SOURCE: wireless button

The T30 laptops do not have a on/off button that turns the wireless card on.
Once the wireless card driver is installed the wireless card will detect any wireless router and access point within its range. You need to configure the wireless card to connect into the wireless router or access point eg. the encryption, SSID etc.
The Thinkpad laptops have different wireless LAN cards installed, when you install a wireless card driver and it doesn't work, then install a different model wireless card driver. Also make sure the XP or Vista version of the wireless driver matches the Windows version that is installed on the laptop.

We can't get our IBM T30 to connect with our Linksys router . The computer has a 3com wireless card

Has the Wireless card ever worked attached to another wireless router?

Is the card an internal miniPCI card, and is it an official IBM card for your region? Thinkpads check whether the card is for the correct region before configuring them in the Windows drivers.

Are you using the Thinkpad Assistant Wireless tool. I have found that it appears to be impossible to configure this software for 64 bit WEP or WPA PSK authentication.

I have a T30 IBM Think Pad and cannot find the wireless switch. Can someone help me?

I don't think the T30 has an actual physical switch for the wireless. The ThinkPad button will show you how to do the wireless setup/repair. If you have Bluetooth on it, the Bluetooth indicator should be near the hinge.
