Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Wireless Router (WPN824NAR)

1 Answer

Help with a netgear wpn824 v3 and configuring for my PS3 and PSP.

When I try to connect my PS3 or PSP to my wpn824 it times out trying to find the IP. When I give it a statc IP it seems to connect to the router but gives no actual intenet access. Firmware on all is up to date I am willing to go with a MOD firmware if that will make it work.

2 things you can try:-

1. make sure you enter the subnet mask and the gateway on the PSP or PS3
You can get these values on a connected computer

2. Try connecting to the Netgear and changing the channel if in UK try channel 4 or 7

Tip

Port Forwarding for PLAY STATION on NETGEAR routers

The following steps will help you forward ports on the NETGEAR router for Play station network (PS2, PS3, PSP). At time you can not access or play online games through your PS and in such cases you need to make sure that you have the required ports forwarded on your router as mentioned below. The below steps are applicable for NETGEAR router model WGR614, WGT624, WPN824, WNR2000, WNDR3300, WNR854T, WNR834B etc

1. Open a browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari) on your computer connected to the router.
2. Access the router, usually by typing 'http://192.168.1.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
3. Login to the router (Username = admin and Password = Password unless you have changed it).
4. Click on Port Forwarding under Advanced.
5. Click on 'Add Custom Service' button.
6. Specify any name for the service (PSN1). Select Service Type as TCP/UDP
7. Specify the Start and the End Port as 80.
8. In the server IP Address specify the ip address of the PS3.
9. Click on 'Add' button.
10. Follow the same steps to open the below ports
Start = 443 End = 443 use name as PSN2
Start = 5223 End = 5223 use name as PSN3
Start = 3478 End = 3479 use name as PSN4.
Start = 3658 End = 3658 use name as PSN5.
Start = 10070 End = 10080 use name as PSN6.
Click Apply.

These steps would allow you to access online games on your PS connected through the NETGEAR router.

Trying to switch routers, can't get into new Netgear to configure

To configure it you can simply contect a pc to one of its rj45 port. it will give the pc an ip address in a default range. but the must have its network connection configured to receive ip automatically.

See the status of the pc LAN connection and note the gateway ip address. then type this ip in your explore address bar to access the configuration page / program of the router.

Hope that help.

I have wpn824 it appears connected

Try to reset the NetGear router and reconfigure it again Use the user manual for the procedure. If you can not locate the manual use this helpful website below there is 2 version of Wpn824 v2 and v3 but i think configuration should be the same Just pick one. And look under the

HELP

I had to manually set access on my Wii even though it said everything was right.

If you can manually set it up, do that. You will need the IP numbers, which can be found by going to a command prompt, and typing ipconfig /all.

You will see 192.168.xxx.yyy and 255.255.255.0, and 192.168.zzz.uuu.

The first is the IP of the computer your on.
The second doesn't matter, but you'll enter the same on the PS3.

The third you'll duplicate in the PS3.

Setup any security you may have, and it should work. Let me know what you come up with. I have suggested this to others, but have not checked to see if this made their system work.

Check ISP configuration to match Router settings with your supplier requirements.
Your issue seems related with wrong settings on Router WAN configuration.
Check if DHCP is required on your router or if it has tio be configured as a BRIDGE.
Your ISP should be ready to support you. (Or Netgear)

Reset

You can reset your Netgear router/wireless wpn824 router to the factory settings from within the router manager. The reset procedure removes all user-configured settings and returns the router to the original factory settings.

For this reason, only reset the router if you encounter problems that can't be solved with other methods.

Step 1: Check that your Netgear router/wireless wpn824 router is properly connected with your system or not. If it is OK, then press reset button on Netgear router for at least 10 seconds. The 'test' light should flash during this process.

Step 2: Now open browser and enter Netgear's IP address into the address bar. Generally, '192.168.0.1' is the Netgear router IP address but you can find specific IP address in Netgear wpn824 router manual.

Step 3: Now enter your default username and password to log in to router.

Step 4: Click 'Erase' button under the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings'. This process will erase all your previous changes that have been made to the router and restore the configuration settings to factory setting. Don't interrupt the process until the process is finished.

Once the router's 'test' light has stopped blinking and the configuration page you are on has refreshed, the wpn824 router has been reset.

Feel free to get instant online Netgear router
support at http://www.vtechsquad.com/netgear-router-support/ to fix Netgear router/wireless router issues.
