Locate on the front of your set the remote receiver- its a tiny round lens that if covered with a piece of black tape will prevent any remote from working---Unless the person has a Emerson remote he would not be able to do this--if you cover the lens your remote will not seem to work but you will not have them turning your set off etc.

Why won't tv turn on by remote or power button unless we try 4-5 times?

My TV has the same problem.
At first, it was an issue with the button itself, somehow some gunk got down under the button and kept it from pressing down all the way most of the time.
A few days after we fixed that, it started to mess up again, this time it was an issue with the way it transmitted signal to the TV.

If the button being blocked isn't the issue, replace the batteries. If the batteries aren't the issue and you don't have a soldering gun, then you'll need to purchase a new remote.

I bought one from walmart for ten dollars and it works just fine for basic use.

Blue screen says this tv is locked enter your personal code using 10-keypad then press enter to view this tv-my daughter pressed the cable remote & this happened this is the only remote we have&use

What brand is the TV. I would call the manufacturer tech support. If you have the manual the number could be in one of the back pages. If you don't have the manual search the manufacturer online. They usually have a support link with a phone number.

Changing channels on its own.

Provided the receiver is in dual mode than the problem lies in the remote address for your TV2 remote. Take the TV2 remote to the TV1 location associated with that system. With the TV1 remote and TV on press menu menu on the TV1 remote this will bring you to the System Info Screen. Near the bottom of the screen there will be two remote addresses- primary=TV1 and Secondary=TV2. Make note of these and go to the other dvr receiver you have and do the sam as you did before. It is important that the address for the secondary remote at the first location and the remote address for the secondary at this location if on a duo receiver are not the same. Now go back to the TV1 location you were oiginally at and using the TV2 remote press and hold the small clear SAT button until all light across the top light up. Now key in a two digit number that is different from the original secondary address at this location and also different than the address at the other location. Now press the pound key and the SAT button will flash thrice. Now press the record button a few times until the secondary address changes to the number you selected. Once this is doone you can exit out of all screens on all receivers and go to the TV2 location that was having the issue and it should be resolved. More than likely either a neighbor had their remote address the same as yours if they are within a 100 feet or the remote address defaulted to the same as the other dvr. I hope this helps you and thanks for using Fix Ya. If you need further assistance please let me know.

Magnasonic MCT5555 TV remote control will cycle through 02 - 32 but when trying to go above 32 it returns to 02. I can manually select any number above 32 say 43, 55 etc. but will not cycle up on remote....

Steve from Magnasonic 800 663 5854 solved the problem. It must have been finger problems - somehow someone programmed the remote unintentionally. Steve had me turn on the TV and press 02 | RESET | AUTO -- the tv cycled through all the channels -- and that cured the problem.

V-Chip Channel Block

take your tv model number and search on replacementremotes.com for your original remote control. you must get your original remote control to do this. After you search on replacementremotes.com it will bring up your original remote control. and then order it, or if they suggest a replacement it should work too.
